I`ve been advised to delete all the "start up" items except my security. I can recognise AVG there, but Comodo Firewall, SpyBot Search & destroy & Adaware I cant, Can anybody please tell me what these will read as in Start Up Item. Thanks
Hope I`ve made this clear

The system configuration utility or "msconfig" for short is a useful tool for disabling unwanted programs that might cause problems on your pc or slow it down when carrying out certain tasks. The problem is some are required to allow your sytem files to operate correctly. Now if you go and delete them this can cause "crashes" or worse even a computer that wont "boot up"!

The advice you got is misleading and you would need to be more specific in detailing the reason for this advice. However, the best way is to "disable" your start up items by running "msconfig". Go to "run" in your start menu and just type "msconfig" and press OK. From there click the "startup tab and search through it for your items. You should recognise most of them by their location on your computer. Click the boxes to disable certain items and restart your PC.

You can also use "regedit" in the same way but messing with the registry is dangerous. If you're not too sure leave it alone.

There's a link below to give you good info and tips on what you need concerning your start up items.

Hope that helps

Yes, as you've realised, you want your AVG running on startup.
As do your Comodo Firewall. Don't stop either of those programs.

As for the others you mentioned, they're great at removing malware & spyware, but you don't necessarily need them running all the time, it will be perfectly safe to stop Spybot S&D and Ad-Aware & just run them periodically.

Comodo should read CPF in the startup tab as far as the others I'm not sure, these links may be of some help tho'
Also, you may need other programs that are necessary for your computer to run, double check everything that is listed in your startup prior to removing it otherwise you may have some conflicts
You don't really need any antispyware in your startup as long as you are consistent with running the programs

Streamline your startups

start
run
msconfig
go to start-up tab

I have spybot&adaware, and they are easy to spot

Use msconfig to see what is starting at startup.

The best way to stop a program from running at startup, is from within each program's options/tools.
(as opposed to brute forcing them with msconfig)
