I think he looked good. Different, but good. They say black is slimming, and he certainly looked it. He looked like 140 lbs last night. Still, he looked intimidating(more so) and evil. That's what we need. An Evil Roger Federer.

I forgot about that stripe. Probably an example of what I thought of it- it wasn't worth remembering. That took the Evilness factor down a notch. Not as bad as a white blazer at Wimbledon but still ridiculous looking. Why the stripe, Roger? Why??

Simply put, he looked HOTTTT! Of course Federer is a world class athlete and a living legend but I never thought of him as a menacing dark knight. I loved it!

That's exactly what the other players need right now...as if he's not dominent enough, let's now put him in the most intimidating power color! LOL!

I actually DID like the outfit although, Roger's cool demeanor doesn't really lend itself to making the black as menacing. Someone who just overpowers people like Nadal or Roddick would pull off the black better IMO. And yes, the Evil Anti-Federer would be just downright nasty in that outfit...although, he would probably shun the glossy stripe.

The stipe on the side of the shorts was a little metrosexual for my tastes but on tv it's really not that noticeable. Wait...that may have more to do with my 27" tube. Man I need a bigger tv!

Keep it between the lines!

Roger Federer has developed his own sense of style over the years since he has been contracted with Nike. His deal with Nike is almost up, and I think that is one reason behind him taking more risks in his attire. Also, he has this pseudo-rivalry with Tiger Woods, who is also known for his golf attire.

I didn't mind his white jacket and long pants at Wimbledon. He was going for the classic look. However I think he over-accessorized a bit with the additional gym bag/man-purse.

It's funny that we don't criticize female athletes for wearing all black at night. In fact, last year, Maria Sharapova's black dress was given heavy praise. What's wrong with Roger Federer wanting to take a page out of Johnny Cash?

Oooh , it was different certainly --- I knew that he had two outfits , a day and a night one , but I never thought he was going to turn out in this all-black ensemble !!! I mean , he was black head-to-toe , with black hairband , black outfit and black shoes and socks !!!!

It certainly lent a different something to his demeanour - he looked like a sophisticated but intimidating underworld don to me!!!( No offence meant to him though)

But I still prefer his Wimbledon outfits , specially the customized ones he has worn for this year's Championships and the last year's one - I really love that jacket with the crest and I loved the tailor-made trousers he wore this year !!!! I guess this US Open is gonna be making a style statement for both the men's and the women's this year , what with Sharapova in flaming red and Federer in black!!

He looked great. Federer always does and he's becoming the sharapova of fashion for the male tennis players out there. The sneakers he wore couldnt have been any better because federer is such a great player he can have shiny sneakers and a shiny black bag and still be cool.

The guy looked bad A$$! I remember a certain William's sister wearing all black once... and she was wearing wrestling shoes. Maybe she should take some tips from Fed? We will see how the all black treats him as he is winning the Open.

Looked good. The only things that didn't impress me too much, in the beginning, were the black socks and shoes. But I've started liking them now. The thing that one must accept is that this guy can look great in everything!

He looked like a football player accidentally transported by the tennis loving aliens to a tennis court:)
I love Fed, and like men wearing black, but that was too black for my taste, or face it, for anyone's taste!!:)
Those snickers were just..., well, not for tennis, and black socks, and tuxedo shorts, for Christ's sake:))
Who knows, maybe Mirka took a day off, and didn't advise Rog on his outfit, so the poor guy had to dress all by himself?:)
Or this outfit WAS Mirka's idea?! We'll never know:) LOL

I think both Federer and Roddick looked really awful wearing all black. It's definitely not an appealing tennis style. I think they both looked quite awkward. Andy Roddick is looking quite bulky, and maybe it's just muscle, but the black made him look really nasty. And he is a damn hot guy, but not last night.

It was great seeing a good guy in black for a change. He did look a little more intimidating in his black. But the man is unstoppable no matter what color he wears.
