Settlers of Catan rocks!!!
Also very good are Carcasone, and Ticket to Ride.
Great games for groups of 2-6 that go beyond your average board game without becoming too nerdy.

Taboo. It gets so fun when my friends and I are dealing with the hard words, especially when time is running out (I get more agitated and nervous!) Catching each other saying the taboo words are fun too (getting more points for yourself). It somehow increases my vocab too (I don't know how but it did). Taboo really makes me wanna go on and on with the game. Great game... :)

Ya know, for girls, Mall Madness is actually a pretty fun game. I enjoy playing that game with my nieces whenever I can!! If you kind of like Monopoly, but want something a little different... there is a older game available on E-Bay called Hotels. If you like games like R.I.S.K., one of my favs is Conquest of the Empire by Milton Bradley. If you like Lord of the Rings, there is a great older electronic Milton Bradley game called Dark Tower!!! I've never met anyone who didn't like that game!
