Tell your dad, it's a disgrace! AND could cost your family in the long run, (talking lawsuits, and lost customers)

This is one of those "defining moments" in your life - of course! you should tell your dad! Put the shoe on the other foot, so to speak. Would you like someone doing that to someone you know and loved, or worse, to you, even though you passed away? It's a respect issue, and ethics are involved, and apparently this guy has none. He isn't worth having around, and is bad for your family's business. His actions could bring potential bad business and lawsuits to your family. Tell your dad everything, and as a parent, good business man, and someone with ethics and integrity, your dad will fire him no problem and get someone who will do the job, and do it right.

Sure you should tell him, if......you can tell me how a hermetically sealed casket opens after it's closed?

My father owned a funeral home, and caskets don't just "fall open" when they are dropped! But if he is stealing from the deceased, then, yes, he should not only be reported to your father as it may cost him his business, but you should call the police as well....providing you've got proof (can you name and describe some of the jewelry he's taken? Does he pawn it?)

State department of health likely has guidelines that he is violating. Yes, report him, but consider this negligent/intentional handling of a corpse is an actionable injury in civil court and because this guy is your father's employee there could be lawsuits against your Dad's funeral home. You (your Dad) needs a lawyer fast, he needs to severe with this individual and he needs to seek criminal action against him as well. Call your local bar association for help in finding an attorney, tell your Dad right away, don't wait.

Absolutely, tell your father. His business reputation is riding on this guy's behavior. Tell him which days you saw him do what. If he is stealing from the deceased, then the cops may need to get involved.

Wouldn't it be terrible if people found out this guy was mistreating the deceased, and stealing from them, and it was on your dad's watch? It will be much harder for your dad to untangle himself from the negative press if he doesn't fire him immediately.

Don't feel bad about getting this guy fired. He has earned it for himself.

Absolutely tell him. Not only is it unethical, in a lot of states it is against the law to abuse a corpse.

You know at 17 you should already know the answer. Therefore you should know what action needs to be taken.

Absolutely and if your father will not listen call the law. If he did that to one of my family... he will need your fathers services himself.

wait for karma to sneak up on him one night when he's walking down a dark alley alone or have him fired out of respect for your clients.
