If you could read peoples minds you wouldnt have friends. Debate?

Cos you know what they're thinking so not only do they have nothing to tell you but they cannot hide their thoughts so you'd be cornering them about things they were thinking to themself, youd be like "SO YOU THINK I HAVE A MOUSTACHE EH???"
you wouldnt have any friends!!!! you can only live with people if they tell white lies to stop you getting hurt and if they keep their comments to themself however if you knew these theyd hate you! anyone agree that the ability to read peoples minds would ruin all relationships???

If I'd always been able to read minds then I wouldn't know any other way of being. It would have been normal for me as a baby, as a toddler, as a child, and so on. So I would have adapted to it. It would just be something I accepted. I think I would have found a way to make friends. I'd be used to hearing other people's thoughts about me (she's got a moustache, etc.) and that would be normal too. I wouldn't get annoyed, angry, excited or anything else about what I saw in people's minds because I would always have seen things like that. I might find that I needed to keep to myself what I saw in other people's minds in order to have friends (and avoid getting beaten up sometimes).

It might get lonely though, never being able to have anyone know me as well as I know others. I'd probably come over as incredibly empathic. It would be a bit like being able to see in a world of the blind, or even like being a person of normal intelligence trapped in an institution for the mentally disabled. Other people would seem so limited, not seeing & understanding the things that were so clear to me.

That's funny. I was just thinking about this the other day. No lie. I definitely wouldn't want to be telepathic for all of the reasons stated above. If you already know what someone's thinking then what would there be to talk about? Plus, there are some things that you don't want to know about because some people will lie so that they won't hurt your feelings (Girl, that dress looks so good on you) when they're really thinking something else (I know she doesn't think that **** looks right). Then there's the fact that most people will probably feel uncomfortable around you or try to shut their mind off while they're around so reading minds in my opinion would ruin any relationship.

No I think there is a strong possibility that you could have more friends.The reason I think this is that you would be able to pick out the ones that you have a lot of things in common with and enter into a friendship and wouldn't be wasting your time with ones who seem OK at first but later prove to be incompatible with you.

To a slight degree but I try to keep my mind "empty" and think highly of my friends. If someone is behaving like a low-life, then they aren't my friend and they are free to "call me" on any of my thoughts.

Golly, if the Finance Director, here at my work, knew the thoughts of 90% of the staff here, he'd go home crying. Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.

hehe.i think about this a lot actually.it would be ok if it was only you that could read people's minds,as long as you didn't tell anyone else.but at the same it time it could make it worse,'cause people wouldn't hide stuff 'cause they don't know that you're reading their mind..confusing eh O.o
