I have 1 gig on mine and I use Photoshop and a movie editing software. Both are very ram hungry. Photoshop does fine with the one gig, but the movie one takes a bit longer then I like to render files, so I'll be upgrading to 2 gigs soon.
I can't imagine why you would need 4 unless you're a heavy gamer.
Peace
Jim

Are you sure your laptop will even handle 4GB??? Most Don't !!!
Check the motherboard manual that came with your PC and read up on the RAM capabilities.
Unless your laptop is a high end gaming PC, it's a total waste of money to put 4GB on it anyway.
2GB is plenty to run Vista and everything else while you're multi-tasking.
Hope this helps.

I'm a firm believer in the more RAM the better. 2Gb would normally be enough but if it's a Vista laptop and you can afford it, get the 4gb. Vista is very graphically driven so the more RAM you have the better. My VIsta laptop has 3Gb and works fine but I would have gone with 4 had that been an option

As said above, 2GB is MORE than plenty for most activities...
However, if doing heavy video editing or graphic design I think the 4GB would help you out a lot. Although, I would also suggest getting a desktop computer if you're going to be doing that type of work.

that IS A LOT OF RAM, especially for a laptop, if you have the money, i dont see why not, but i doubt you will ever use 4gb, you probably never even hit 2gb, but windows vista is a memory hog(if thats what your getting) On XP more than 2gb is usually never needed.

That is not necessary. A good laptop can run beautifully with about 1 GB of RAM. If u have money to splurge, then feel free to upgrade.
else use that money to upgrade any other component.

2 Gigs work sweet on mines . But if yours support it and you are able to spend some money on it go ahead it should run smooth.

if you can afford it, i say go for it. more ram = run faster. 2gb is plenty, even 1 really, but if you can, you wont regret getting 4.
