I'm thinking the onlt two teams in the AL that could afford him is LA Angels and Boston. Take your pick. I don't think he's want any part of the NL.

The most likely destinations for A-Rod next year if he decides to opt out of his contract with the Yankees at the end of the year that is would be the Los Angeles Angel, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants, Chicago Cubs, or Boston Red Sox. All of these teams could desperately use him and all most likely would be willing to spend the money that he wants to bring him to their team. Now with that being said A-Rod's agent Scott "Avenging Agent" Boras is all about the money and will most likely accept the team that offers the most money. The wild card team could be the Detroit Tigers who could very well be interested in him as well.

The yankees will make an effort but I don't think he wants to stay? He's got a feel to him that he has to be the show and NY got enough stars already. Boston is going to bring big coins to the bidding war, but I'm not so sure fans will welcome him, plus Sox will be cold with the guys left over from the champ yr after what happened. Big dollars will land him in LA or SF if he just chases the money!!

I think there are a few realistic places for him. Three in CA, LA, Aniheim or SF (they will have money without Bonds). Also he could stay in NY (they always have money), he could go to Boston who is always free wheeling for superstars or he could go to Chicago to play for Pinella (I think that is likely). If the Marlins had a new stadium and had the revnue to support him I would say that they were a possiblity.
I think the Cubs and Giants make the most sense to me, possibly the Dodgers with their ability to pay as well.

Realistically? He stays with the Yankees.
Hopefully? He comes out West to the Angels.

The Giants cleared an awful lot of cap room by trading Morris & Benitez. Barry Bonds won't be returning either. By my math, that frees up more than $30 million per year that needs to go somewhere. Will A-Rod get it all? Probably not. But the Giants have the resources and the fan base to give him a warm welcome.

I think he'll end up in southern California. Either with the Dodgers or the Angels. Both could use a big bat and the Dodgers have a hole to fill at 3rd.

I dont know. I think he will leave the Yankees. And I heard on ESPN that if he decides to leave the team, the Yanks will not try to resign him or add an extension in his contract.

he'll stay with the yankees. i dont think he worked that hard to get respect in NY just to go somewhere else and start over again. he's having a phenominal year and i honestly dont see them letting him go.
