Are we citizens in the US and UK giving up more and more civil liberties and rights to our govt, each day?
it certainly seems so. Whats more with the Brazilian boy killed on the tubes, and the tube attack itself. things all look too well planned for terrorists.
am i going mad? or are we really gettting locked down into a police state where we are monitored and cataloged?

civil liberties like free speech.
In america there are many places where demonstration are forbidden, in London you are no longer alowed to protest outside parliment...if you cant, then what is the point if you cant communicate the public's views to the politicians...

ILConservative is correct!
One can listen to those who have no clue about what really goes on in government, however, I'm still just as free today as I was pre-911 nor have I given up any civil liberties!
I'd suggest that those who claim to have given up any of their rights....describe what rights they've given up!

YES YES YES
That america is a huge police state
you have a army for each state
the reason why america is a police country is because it makes more people in america afraid to stand up against the government or rich organizations
they are slowly taking your rights away
they will make you wear chips and they will track you down like animals

With President Bush, all (BAD) things are possible, and this one is coming true. He has stripped away many of our civil liberties by enacting "The Patriot Act". This program has done nothing whatsoever to lessen the threat of terrorism, and everything to take away our rights as citizens.

911 was all about getting American citizens to exchange freedom for security.
"They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security."
Benjamin Franklin
Yes, America has crossed the proverbial "Rubicon" and will become a police state. Through both real and contrived catastrophies, Americans will give up their freedom thinking they will be more secure. Exchanging freedom for security has never produced security. It always leads to tyrrany.

I live in the US, and I can't think of one civil liberty I have given up, except that I can't bring my box cutters on the airplanes anymore or light my shoe on fire while I am on an airplane. Oh gee, I never did that before 9/11 either, so I am ok!
