The sun is a ball of burning gas, it creates light heat and energy, the earth orbits the sun.
The moon is a semi-sperical rock that reflects the light from the sun back at us, does not creat light heat or energy, and it orbits us.

The sun is a STAR...

Then moon is a cold object with no major chemical reaction taking place... Just basicly some rocks all stuck together through the help of good old gravity.

The sun makes the moon "shine" through the reflection of its rays.

The Sun on the other hand is just some gases (mostly helium and hydrogen) that go through various chemical reactions and transform from one to another... this gives heat and light by the way...

The sun is a star - its our closest Star and called "Sol" - the moon is a rocky planetoid most believe made as the result of an impact with the Earth when it was still forming.

The Moon is smaller than the Earth, it is made of solid rock and it does not make its own light.

The Sun in much, much bigger than Earth, it is made of gas and it makes its own light.
