Subject: The subject is tells what the sentence is about.
Predicate: The predicate is all that is a clause, with the exception of the complete subject.
Phrase: The phrase is the part of the sentence that doesn't have a subject or verb. It doesn't make any sense if it is standing by itself.
Clause: A clause is part of a sentence that has a subject and a verb. Sometimes entire sentences are a clause, which can sometimes contain smaller clauses.
In your multiple choice A - D answers, probably (a) would be the better choice, but as you can see there's more to it than just the subject and predicate.

a) Subject and Predicate. The subject is usually a noun or pronoun and the predicate is usually a verb. One other part of a sentence that is important but is not always there is the object of the verb; i.e., He hit the ball. He is the subject. Hit is the verb (predicate) and ball is the object. Adverbs modify or describe verbs and adjectives modify or describe nouns and pronouns. They do not have to be in a sentence. For example: He ran.
