That our country's reps can vote on their own pay raises? Have they ever voted it down?
There are state propositions that the People can vote on, but not national propositions? (How can our government represent the People when they are voting in favor of their funding contributors?)
Serve in the senate for one term, and receive a great retirement package?
The list goes on, and I am really getting fed up.

When Thomas B. Reed (arguably the greatest Speaker of the House) told his father that he was going to run for Congress, his father told him that he should pursue a worth while career such as beaver hunting or garbage man. In those days, public servants were underpaid and highly dedicated to the public service, but we didn't have the tax base nor the expenditures that we have now. With the taxes come all variety of parties that are willing to suggest how those taxes are best spent. Is money appropriated for the defense really necessary for national security or is it to ensure a profit margin for defense contractors many of whom have unprecedented access not only to congress, but to the pentagon itself? Sorry for an additional question, but there is no easy answer other than sacking the military industrial complex, which could not be accomplished without revoluntionary zeal on the part of the people. And I guess therein lies the greatest problem, the public just does not care about politics, unless they involve some depravity such as Senator Craig or a celebrity like VIck, Lohan, or Hilton. Don't blame the messanger, the problem is an uneducated and uninterested electorate.

So now they collect from both social security and the federal civil service retirement plan. They have brought a new meaning to double dipping! They have to be the absolute greediest people on the planet right after the israelis! It should be one term only, salary not to exceed the same amount the average American receives, and no pension what so ever for just serving one term of office! Roll back all their benefits, roll back their salaries, and soak the rich until they know it hurts!

I don't think it is ethical or even legal. We voted them to make decisions that would be for our benefit. Not only have they refused to listen to the people they vote only for what will fill their pockets. Salaries have stagnated and they are the only ones getting raises. It is high time to let these people know who they are working for. With the next election we should clean house.

While I agree with much of what you say, you are incorrect about the retirement.
You can find some interesting information about the retirement plans for congressmen and senators here: http://usgovinfo.about.com/library/weekly/aa031200a.htm and here: http://www.snopes.com/politics/taxes/pensions.asp
