I was reading the story about the "Jena Six", a group of 6 black students in Jena, LA who attacked a white boy in the schoolyard and the media's attention to the story. I was wondering what everyone's opinions are.......

(If that link doesn't work, go to Msn.com and read the article entitled "Whitlock: The Long Road to Justice")

I think the writer of this article is 100% correct in his final opinions, but I wanted to know what other people think.

that was an amazing article. it seems like the whole town overreacted on every aspect.... the noose hanging was wrong and warranted a much more severe punishment. however one student making a joke about another did not warrant 6 people jumping him. nor did those six warrant an attempted murder charge.it seems there is too much racial tension for anyone--student parents, officials, and activists-- to really look at both sides and see that althought cruel the noose incident has nothing to do with the fight execept for a group of hurt and offended kids waiting for their opportunity to create a reason to return the hurt to whoever was an easy target......it should never be 6 on 1....but there should never be noose hangings, or name calling....but thats not the world we live in.

but the author was very right in his statements that you never do hear the whole story...they always try to victimize both sides." white kid didnt deserve this"...." black kid was reacting to hate" we've heard it all before and will continue to hear it. and i agree with all the people he said should be ashamed of their actions or lack there of.

I've heard about this for some time. Although it's wrong to gang up on one person, I doubt the victim was an angel. It's always easy for someone who has never had to experience this sort of thing to write these six off. They were wrong. But, they do not deserve 22 years in prison, especially since the victim went to a school function the same evening. That's not attempted murder.

This is nothing to worry much. It is unethical to beat one person by several. The police might take an action. What we have to do is to condemn the assaulting.

I don't think it's acceptable for 6 people to beat up on one person. Leave race out of it. No one deserves to be beaten. Good luck. 2D

one gang against one student. its unaccepable. the difference between a fite and violence is that violence is use of hurting others for no reason and theyre cowards for not fiting alone. a fite is a one on one match and the most basic is no weapons. those kids used VIOLENCE! :O i didnt read the article. its too looong.
