He somehow kept his foot on the bag and completed the around the horn double play.

Call him a bad fielder but to me he is a great one.

Edit : Jeter made ab ad throw, Giambi swiped the runner. AGAIN is he a underrated fielder?

I seen him at first base and I'm just thinking Oh God why is he there then he's made some great plays so I'm starting to change my mind about his defense. Reality is that he is no Gold Glover but he definetly can handle the position as an Average first basemen.

Giambi makes 23 million this year. He should catch every ball that is hit to him or thrown to him and hit 50 hr's and 150 rbi's and bat .340 for that kinda money. I could live 20 lifetimes on that salary

Giambi is underrated inasmuch as he is better than a rock with a glove taped to it, or perhaps a 90-year-old woman... but as far as major-league first basemen, I think he is rated accurately.

Oh...oh my goodness.....!

Jeter, DEREK JETER, made a bad throw? Oh jeez, Yankee fans will now come up with another excuse for that one too.

As for Giambi, he is not, by any stretch, one of the best fielding 1st baseman in the league. Sorry to break it to ya.

He always has been. When he was growing up, his father taught his how to field the ball in the dirt. I guess it paid off. He is a fantastic 1st baseman, always has been. For some odd reason, he has not been recognized. I don't think he has even been considered for a gold glove award.

He is average at best. Just because he can dive for a ball doesn't make him good. Being able to make those plays without diving make one great.

He is decent, but he is great with his bat. Comes back and just hits homeruns.

Let the unoriginal steroid jokes begin. His fielding I would say is about average but his bat doesn’t get as much talk as it should.
