Earplugs are a good idea, maybe even an eye mask if you are a light sleeper because you my end up with a roommate who leaves the light on late to study or comes home in the middle of the night and switches the light on.

I agree about the extension cords, too, plus maybe a bathing robe - you may feel more comfortable wearing that on top of whatever you sleep in if someone is having his friends over for breakfast and you have to walk past them to get into the shower.

And of course, there's all the comfort stuff - favourite books, treats, pictures of friends and familly, to get over the blues when it hits you.

Fans. Luckily my roommate brought some, but she left a couple of days before I did so my last few days and nights in the dorm were horrible. Also, if your school allows it I had a coffee maker that I loved. It was great not only for making coffee, but heating water for hot chocolate, ramen noodles, etc.

A lot of extension cords, adapters, plug bars. I had to make a late night run to a Wal-Mart the first night in the dorms because we only had ONE outlet for computers, fridge, stereo, microwave, alarm clocks, phone, etc...

Don't forget your little bucket to carry your soap, shampoo, conditioner, etc. to the shower. Yes, definitely on the flip flops.
