Hey! just wondering, I'm in 8th grade and I'm taking geometry for math. In 7th grade i took Algebra1 and in 6th, I took Pre-Algebra. Are these all considered AP classes for math? or just regular math? thanks!!

Taking Geometry in 8th grade is very impressive and you should be proud of yourself. You are way ahead of the game.

Generally speaking, the math class could be considered an honors course. However, normally honors courses are called "Honors Geometry" or whatever the class is.

If your class is called "Geometry," then it is probably not an honors course.

On the other hand, AP courses are different from honors courses. AP means "Advanced Placement." AP courses are college-level courses. In an AP course, you will take exams that are sometimes counted as college credit or may give you advanced standing.

It is not likely that your Geometry class is an AP course. Generally, AP courses are only available in High School.

You should make an appointment with your counsellor to discuss this in more detail.

It's regular High School math dude, sorry. AP is all college-level courses.

But yeah, it's very much advanced for your grade level and you'll be taking college level stuff by 11th grade, so that's quite impressive. You won't have an AP Class until 11th grade, AP Calculus AB. Your first "Honors" class will be in 9th grade when you take Honors Algebra II/Trig.

My first Honors course was actually Pre-Calculus, because when I took Algebra II in 8th grade, honors wasn't available. The Honors/AP system doesn't really start 'till High School.
