People are not inherently equal. Some look better than others, some are smarter than others yet some not so smart people have excellent common sense, some have more money than others, some have better persoanlities than others, some are born to lead, others are born to follow, some are prone to disease, others have good health, some are just plain lucky while others aren't. Life begins with a genetic lottery and things get worse after that.
I can't think of a single society that didn't have leaders.

Well, that will be an utopia for human kind if we were all able live equally in a society. There are too many to think about that prevents the existence of this utopia. For example Greed, Racist thoughts etc. I guess like Darwin's "Survival of the Fittest" theory, human kind are actually fighting hard to survive among their brethren in their own society.

It depends on how you define "equality".
Do you want equality of PROCESS, or equality of RESULTS?
If it's process, then I'd say we're pretty close already, here in America -- equal protection under the law and whatnot.
Equality of results is going to require that you trample on the rights of certain people to get the result you want, because certain groups don't necessarily WANT the same things that others want. if women aren't inherently as ambitious as men, they're never going to put in the hours and make the sacrifices necessary to become CEO's, so you'll never have 100% equal representation among Fortune 500 companies unless you deliberately deny certain men that chance.

I think that true lasting equality is pretty much impossible because people inherently care more about their wants and needs than the wants and needs of others, especially others to which they are not personally attached. People like to be prosperous, even it means their spoils are the sustenance of someone they don't know.

I think that while it's possible it's not probable. People may improve as we improve our society, education and eliminate intolerance in various social institutions.
But will we ever be perfect (whatever that is), probably not.

i believe we are all equal. it is in the mind frame of your self and others like you who see it to the contrary. if you think of your self as not equal or as others as not equal you are letting the stigma survive. if you think of your self as equal to others and others as your equal you will see.
