A national tv station wants a few videos of me on it. They are spoof videos of music. If a major network like this wants the videos and wants me to sign release forms.. should i be alright from any copyright/dispute things that come about?

Do you own the copyrights that you are releasing? If your spoofs are made from existing videos there may be a problem. Ask the TV station about it and make it clear on any release that they are copies.

It is the network that is taking the responsibility and making your videos public - not you. You can always claim that they were made for private viewing only. The copyright protects the artist from people who "copy" the work for the purposes of financial or commercial gain by playing it to a public audience.

Check the forms and make sure theres nothing that implies that YOU have sought and gained permission to use the work from the artist.

The release forms protect the network from you claiming they were not given permission to use them.

You're in the clear.

Broadcast radio and television has exemption from RIAA control of recorded music so you don't need permission from the record label. The stations are responsible for the performance rights which they pay to ASCAP and BMI directly. The only area of concern is the actual pictures used in the video and if the actors you used gave permission.

Do not try and distribute this video on your own. Then you will get in trouble for the music.
