Are there any places where I can have songs arranged for piano personally and professionally? Perhaps this forum, if anyone is generous enough ... :) Because there are some pieces I'd like to play that simply can't be found anywhere on the internet. Specifically, I'm looking for Under the Stars from the Lion King soundtrack. I have tried to find at least a midi file for this song (so that I could send it to a midi notation program) but no luck....

Well, I'll tell you that there are people in this forum who can do it, but they won't spend the time and work it takes to do it without some sort of compensation. Arrangers do this sort of thing for a living, and a decent one, too, if they can get the business -- but it takes training, time and effort, so be prepared to pay.

There is also the problem of copyright, which will probably make most arranger-type people shy away from it. Most of them have scruples and don't relish the thought of running afoul of copyright laws. Lawsuits are counterproductive and imply a sizeable negative cash flow problem.

Good luck!

If you can't find a published arrangement to buy, then like Glinzek says it will be difficult to get a legit arranger to do it without going through the hassel of securing copyright permission.

The last time I applied for permission to arrange a Prokofiev piece (still in copyright) the fee was $100 up front. Now I was doing this for a friend who is a university director for no compensation. Needless to say that amount was not in my or his "freebie" budget so I had to arrange other material. While there is the chance that it might be published, $100 is a lot of money to put out for a spec job! And the cost of an infringement law suit is just not worth doing it without permission.

Now if you feel it is worth the money, contact the publisher and they will send you a permission to arrange form. Line you up an arranger and you are on your way to having your own special arrangements to perform.

Also what you will find is that the copyright terms of permission can be very narrow sometimes, limiting the number and venue of performances and how long the permission is good for.

Good luck in finding what you want.

i'm not a professional musician, yet I even have performed the two acoustic painos and electric powered pianos and keyboard contraptions. indexed here are some reasons human beings choose acoustic pianos over electric powered keyboards. a million. The digital synthesizers and keyboards can not, in actuality, make the comparable sounds as an acoustic piano. lots of them can get very, very close, yet there'll constantly be intense overtones from a stay piano that modify the final consequence of a tone on the human ear. 2. Acoustic pianos even have very much extra high quality administration over their dynamic ranges, and function a miles better dynamic selection (except you employ the quantity knob/pedal on the electrical powered piano). 3. Acoustics *experience* extra advantageous to the pianist. It seems such as you're doing something genuine. you could think of making the strings vibrate once you strike a key. a minimum of, that's been my journey.
