If you get your period, most likely you're NOT pregnant. The only exception would be if it's really, really light in terms of flow and the blood is dark. If you're uncertain, take a home pregnancy test (they're around $3) and be sure.
The periods on the pill have been the same for me, except I don't get bad cramps anymore and they're a little lighter. Best part--you ALWAYS know when it's going to come!

My period is much lighter on the pill. Before starting the pill I had 7 day periods that were very heavy. Now I get periods for 3-4 days and not nearly as heavy. Getting your period at all most likely means you are not pregnant. Then again, every woman is different. Some women will get their periods the entire time they are pregnant, you should be able to find this information documented somewhere. Just be careful. The pill should protect you from pregnancy as long as you take it correctly.

the whole purpose of birth control is well obviously, to not become pregnant. But it is also used to regulate periods, some people have periods that last a long time (7-10days) whereas others not quite so long (3-5days), when you take birth control it helps control how much and how long you bleed for. It can also be used to ease cramping pains which are natural to a woman's cylce but some women experience it more intensely than others. It can be used to help with acne, just to name a few reasons women choose to go on the pill.
The problem with Birth control is that there is no 100% garantee (sp?) that you will not become pregnant. But most BC will say that it is 99.something% effective. If you're having sex with someone and you want to be 100% sure that you don't get pregnant my advice would be to use condoms even if you are on the pill. Or, just don't have sex at all.
And yes, it is possible to have a period and be pregnant at the same time. I've been there...
My two cents ;-)

I've found that a period is the same on or off the pill, only it's regulated by the pill. I suppose there's a possibility of getting pregnant while on the pill (very slim) but having a period is a good sign that there is no pregnancy.

Yes, when a woman is on the pill, she gets her periods normally. The periods may be slightly shorter and lighter.
There are some birth control pills such as Seasonale which allow a woman to skip several periods and only menstruate four times a year.
If you're getting a period, you're definitely not pregnant. If you're on the pill and following instructions properly, it's highly unlikely you will get pregnant - if you're on the pill AND your period, there is NO WAY you could be pregnant.

There are different types of pills, so it is best to ask your doctor if you have any questions
with the pill i am on (cilest), you take a pill every day for 3 weeks and then on your week 'off' you bleed; it is the same as a period and means that you are not pregnant
but, like i said, different pills have different ways of working so best to check with a professional

It differs from woman to woman. Your period can be longer, or shorter or lighter or heavier. All depends on you. But usually for most women they will make them pretty regular. You are supposed to get a period on the pill. Thats what the different colored pills are for, thats the week you should be on your period.

Getting your period usually means your not pregnant whether you're on the pill or not.
your periods should be pretty regular though some time you may see some spotting through out the month (especially if you get the 4 periods a year pill). my periods have been lighter since i've been on the pill, but some women tell me their periods are heavier.

I've experience much different periods while on the pill. There shorter and lighter, rarely less painful tho. You are most likely not pregnant if you have your period while on the pill
