f(x) is represented by the following table values:

x..............f(x)
-3............__
-2............__
-1............__
0..............5
1.............12
2.............-17
3............-45

If f is an even function, then f(-3)= ?
If f is an odd function, then f(-2)= ?

I don't need the direct answers as much as I need to know how to go about solving this >___<.

for odd functions, f(-x) = -f(x), so if f is odd in the table, f(-2) = 17 = -f(2).

for even functions, f(-x) = f(x), so if f is even in the table, f(-3) = -45 = f(3).
