a man who constanly feel gulity about how he treated his adult children 10 years ago? He is causing financial difficulty because of the hand outs his kids beg for. They are both adults and one has children, but they use daddys guilt to milk us dry. Should I leave or what? I'm at my wits end with this- it's been going on for 3 years.

Tell him how you feel and what you are thinking of doing. If he really loves you he will put this behavior to a stop. If not then you know where you stand...

You tell him that although you understand why he does what he does, it has gone on for too long already- and that the needs to go to therapy in order to deal with his issues of guilt.
Tell him this is affecting your marriage and that you feel upset and cannot deal with this any longer.

While I believe that when you are a parent you will never stop being one, there are some limits....and if his children are adults they should stop manipulating their father. If they have an emergency or something, of course they are entitled to ask for help...But all the time? And for luxuries ? I don't agree with this.

I would also ask you to consider going to therapy by yourself, because a trained professional might be able to give you helpful tips on how to deal with your husband's attitude.

dont leave, he needs support. you guys shoudl go to counseling or at least he should. He needs to come to terms with his guilt and move on.
