I can see images from the past. Specifically from 19Th century France. I have never visisted France yet. I can look at an antique and know it function, even though I have never seen it before in my life time. It's rather strange sometimes.

The only correct answer here is that from a scientific perspective no one knows.
However, the best work on this subject (so far) was done by Dr. Ian Stevenson (now deceased) at the University of Virginia. His work is being continued by others and I have included a link for you below.
I suspect one would have to answer the purpose for life in order to even speculate on the purpose of multiple lives.
Judging from how many times a day this question is asked in the philosophy question I think the purpose of human life may be to ask the question "What is the purpose of life?"

Many religions, including early forms of Christianity, hold a belief in reincarnation and have their own scriptures and faith on this issue. I do not dispute their faith I simply say that science hasn't yet provided evidence for many of their beliefs. However, Dr. Stevenson does offer evidence at least suggestive of reincarnation.

My son, when 3 and 4 years of age, would repeatedly tell me of 3 different deaths that he had experienced- the details never changed and in one death he described-He and his father were best friends killed together during a military action. He just stopped talking about it after a while, like with age he forgot. It was weird too, he always sounded like he had a more mature vocabulary when he recounted the "memories". His father does live in the home by the way, and he only had him involved in that one "when I died" story. In the other 2 stories he died alone. I'm not sure if want to believe in reincarnation, but I have a hard time explaining these things away to myself.

reincarnation is the soul entity of our creation from the beginning of time.
u hear someone saying : oh this is unfair... why iam not rich? why am i blind?! etc.... this is due to our past lives " what u do is returned back to u , fair and square"
reincarnation is God's sign and signature for equality and justice between humans. many people through out the world suffer and get lost because of their egnorance of their real being, they do not know that a person's body is like a suit that should be cleaned through out several reincarnations until it reaches enlightenment ( where a being gets closer and closer to his real creator) or else his suffering will never end and he will never stop asking questions like who am i? and what is the purpose of reincarnation? so brother a person's age is that of our whole creation. at the end we are one bound with the same thread of light and rebirth. what we need is belief in our truth ie life and light.

I think it may exist and, like you, I went through a period in life in which I seemed to be having recollections of past existences. In fact, I scared my dad when I related the most historically recent incident one day when we were all chatting. Seems my story coincided with an event that occurred on my great grandfather's farm during the Prohibition Era.

As for the purpose of it--I'm at the point in my life when speculation on the matter seems too presumptuous. I think we just come and go like a merrry go round.

No such thing as reincarnation but the mind is a very powerful instrument and gathers information subconsciously that you may not be aware of. You also possess an imagination that can do extremely wild things that may seem unexplainable which is how inventions come about or idea's of previous lives.

The purpose of reincarnation is to experience all aspects of life. Think of it like school. You go through different grades. There can be breaks in between lives. The point is to have all different life experiences.

If you want to learn about the subject without having to sort through a lot of anonymous answers by strangers, about whom you know nothing, including whether they know anything, there's a way to learn.

The reading list below can act as a source for you. Most of the titles can be found in your local library. If they don't have them they can borrow them from another library.

Usually, reincarnation and incarnations depend on the quality of each preceding life (i.e. on one's karma). Rebirth is the curse of the individual who must keep returning to earth to struggle through life, learning lessons and paying back their karmic debt. The goal is to achieve enlightenment and break the cycle of reincarnation

In all honesty it would be cool to believe however, what's the point? If you have no recollective memory for the life before then it doesn't really matter, we live to build memories if you lose them then that point of your life was pointless to you, really.
