James Patterson is an extremely prolific author, probably best known for the Alex Cross series of detective/mystery/thriller novels.

James Patterson is one of my favorite authors. He writes mystery novels that have very short chapters. That's one of the things I like about his books. When I used to ride the subway to work, I'd be able to stop at the end of a chapter when getting off at my stop, instead of in the middle of a chapter.

Some people write books that are maybe 15 or 20 chapters long and each chapter is twenty pages or more. If I have time to read that's fine, but let there be a loll in the story and I'm off to sleep.

I think he's a great author and like previously said...well known for the Alex Cross series. You may be familiar with his work because the movies "Kiss the Girls" and "Along Came a Spider" were based on his novels. He mainly writes mystery/suspense and a lot of his books are based on detectives, FBI agents, and the like. Some are plain crazy and extremely interesting like "As the Wind Blows" and "The Lake House" which are about children that were genetically engineered.

He is a former Madison Ave ad exec and President of an ad agency who came up with the slogan "I don't wanna grow up. Im a Toys R Us kid" and later went on to become a very prolific author of detective fiction. I am told he stops by the Barnes and Noble near 60th St in Manhattan almost every Monday afternoon.
