I need to know how much I should sell it for. It has an Intel core 2 duo E4400 processor, a D945GCCRL essential series intel motherboard (integrated graphics). It also has a 20x DVD burner/ 48x CD burner, 1 gb of 533MHZ Kingston memory and a 480 watt PSU. Oh yeah, and a cool black case with two front USB hubs (eight hubs USB 2.0 total). I am going to put windows xp home on it.
total cost for me: $610 (aprox.)
How much should I ask for it?
thanks for the help.

Presumably it is a system you built for yourself? You've used it for a while?

If true, $300 +/- 50 (OBO, nach)

If you built it expressly for the purpose of selling it - price-out a comparable machine in a store, and undercut them.

You will likely still end-up loosing money. The "big" box makers buy parts in bulk, and you are paying retail, so you're already at a 20-30% penalty.

Best way to do something like this is to advertise custom systems built to order, build them, add 5-10% to the parts, and charge $50-$100 as your labour.

Honestly, you will have to decide the profit that you will want to make for your work. I am sure if you try and create a customized desktop on dell's site will give you a picture on what your competitor is offering to the public

650 sounds like a fair price but if I were you, install Vista from a torrent download as that boosts the price considerably.

Sell it for $700, and only budge from that if you have to.
