And are people harder on Republicans that are discovered to be gay/scandals because they profess that it is wrong while secretly engaging in the wrong behavior?

I would hope Republicans are harder on corrupt/criminals that liberals, for if we are not, we are surely in trouble. Marion Berry, (D) mayor of Washington DC was re-elected after being caught in a drug sting. I hope we republicans are holding our elected officials to a higher standard.

The easiest thing in the world is to jump to conclusions and not look at any facts. It is a fact that he has been under supspicion for years by special interest groups and gays, who have NEVER came up with empirical evidents. There are no pictures whatsoever. They rely on the testimonies of other gays, how convenient! "He says that she said" kind of evidence resuls in thousands of innocent folk being wrongly accused. Also, did you see the bathroom stalls on t.v., they were about 12 inches from the floor. How could he possibly touch his feet when he was not that close to him? The next time you go to a restroom, look at the proximity of the toilet seats. This man did not ask him for sex or touch him, yet he was arrested. Go figure!! If homosexual groups know for a fact that he is gay, show us the evidence in terms of pictures. It is impossible for him to have acted out all of these years and not leave a trail somewhere. Any old queen would admit to having sex with him; a lie does not care who tells it! Show us the evidence!! This man's career is over. Had he asked for sex or touched the cop inappropriately, we could go on that. Had there been pictures, we could go on that. There is absolutely nothing tangible. At any rate, his enemies won.

Of course he is a pervert. If he knows he has a "wide stance" than he would have pulled his foot back quickly, once seated on the throne. Instead he tapped it around and encroached even further into the next stall. Then he reached under with his hand. One might forgive the foot under for a bit but reaching under that is unforgivable. The simple fact is the holier than thou anti gay pervert has been caught being just what he railed against. People don't like hypocrites. He needs to resign and save himself, his party and the good people of the state of Idaho any further embarassment.

Even if he was wrongly accused, he pleaded guilty! That shows poor judgement, and makes him unfit to hold public office.

Of course they are harder on Republicans because they continuously marginalize the gay community and attempt to criminalize the LGBT community, when they themselves are commiting the so-called "crimes" they vote for. It's hypocrisy and it's morally disgusting - not because they are gay, but because the are in direct contradiction between their actions and their rhetoric.

So much for the "family values" party. And they claim liberals are anti-family?

No, he's obviously not wrongly accused. The man pled guilty, and when he knew that rumors of this behavior were already plaguing him. If he were innocent he would have fought it like any innocent person, not pled guilty.

And of course people are harder on Republicans for this sort of thing. They bray loudly about family values - this guy RAN on family values - and then show themselves to be the worst of hypocrites where it's concerned. He's been crusading against gay rights for years. As I heard last night on Hardball, and it was a great explanation: Americans forgive sinners, they do not forgive hypocrites.

Well, he did plead guilty. I can't help but think that if I were innocent of something, I would NEVER plead guilty, no matter what. And yes, I think that the reason why there is a lot of focus on outed Republicans is because of the fact that many of them (e.g. Ted Haggard and Larry Craig) openly criticize gays and support legislation that discriminates against gays, yet they don't hold themselves to the same standard in their private lives.

I'm sorry but no straight man is going to plead guilty to trying to pick up another man in a mens room, no matter how vaguely the report is written.
There is one other thing that not a lot of people are talking about. He apparently tried to use his position as a US Senator to intimidate the arresting officer. That's an abuse of power

Craig is screwed (pun intended).

The man is in major denial. And yes hypocrites will always be better for a story than people who humbly admit that they have flaws and are far from perfect. Its the whole holier-than-thou deal that gets the rest of the flawed humans angry.
You tell people they are perverts who deserve to go to hell, and then you play footsies with the guy in the next stall???
Pride and arrogance are the components of hypocrisy, and they are tough to live with.

I am a Republican and I could careless if he liked it with dudes, horses, his hand or toys. I do draw the line with two things-Number one he is a hypocrite, since he was hardcore anti gay marriage (dude obviously loves a little man to man love) and was saying that gays live a life of sin blah blah blah. Number two-The guy was hooking up at random with other dudes in the men's room. It gives me creeps the next time I have to take a leak at the airport.

He pleaded guilty. So to me he is guilty. There is nothing wrong with him being gay if he wasnt in the party who is the best for gay bashing. That is what the problem is. The hipocritcal views of the Republican party!

I live in Idaho.
Im ultra-conservative

Something is fishy with Craigs explanations and I voted for the man. I want him out of office. My conclusions are drawn on the fact that he "couldnt recall" some things that had happened moments before, He has a "wide stance on the toilet" (WTF??) and his plea of guilty. If I were a US Senator, theres no way I would enter a plea of guilt to make it go away. If I was innocent, Id scream that it was a liberal set up.

I think hes guilty and I dont want a sexual deviant representing me. If hes gay, who cares. Trolling for sex in a rest room is an embarrassment to the people of Idaho.
