the common failure mode of a front wheel bearing is noise. Typically, the only way to diagnos the front wheel bearing is to drive it on an isolated road where there is no traffic. Around 35 mph, swerve back and forth from right to left. the noise should go away when the weight is shifted from one side to the other. the noise will lessen with the weight transferred off the wheel bearing. From gm service manual website:
Important: A noise heard during left turns is a good indicator of a noisy right wheel bearing. A noise heard during right turns is a good indicator of a noisy left wheel bearing.
Road test the vehicle to verify the location of the noise. Drive the vehicle on a smooth road at a moderate speed range. While driving, turn the wheel to the left and the right to apply loads to each wheel corner.
specified value:(30-45 mph)
Is the noise present at the wheel bearing?
yes:go to step 7
step 7:Replace the wheel bearing.

If there is a noticeable noise coming from the wheel area, a noticeable vibration coming from the wheel area, or even a loose feeling coming from the tire area. You would have to confirm that it is a wheel bearing though, as these are a pretty tough and durable unit. If you have slammed into a curb or something, then I would suspect this and other things being damaged. Lift the suspect wheel up and check the bearing for looseness with side to side push and pull. Rotate the wheel while feeling or listening to the bearing for roughness and/or noise. Good luck.

Jack up the front end UNDER THE LOWER CONTROL ARM and grab the tire at the top and bottom. Have a buddy look at the hub as you rock the tire in and out. If it moves at the hub, there you go. If it moves at the top or bottom of the spindle, you need new ball joints
