Abstract art is one of the best ways to depict the artist internal emotions or feelings. Its a way to connect to his or her audience by allowing the audience to perceive whatever they will rather than photographically telling them what to see. Each person can interpret abstract art differently, and perhaps there is no right or wrong interpretation---that's the beauty of it...

I think he is trying to get you to buy a painting that looks like crap by calling it an abstract.

interpret it using your imagination. I often see them reprisenting certain moments in my life... like a scribbly painting is struggles, whilst neat waves and soft colour are the bliss that is happiness.
