Very simple:

T x $3.50 = C

Where T is the number of tickets
and C is the total cost

If X=Tickets
2x=7
4x=14
6x=21

so 2X + 4x + 6x= 7+14+ 21

2x+4x+6x=42

You then get that 12x=42
and you get $3.50 as you said if you divide 42/12

Algebra is very easy when you figure out that x means ? or 2 (of what) where the
x stands for (of what).
and y means (of what else)

2 (of what) and 4 (of what) and 6 (of what)=how much

in this case the "what" are the tickets.

You already did.

You have it in the form of number of tickets and total cost.

Rewrite it as number of tickets x individual ticket cost = Total cost

..

(Total cost) = (number of tickets) (unit cost)

or

x = n * $3.50
