Valid point, and not only that, they didn't choose to be straight so how do they think they could choose to be gay?

Straights can see issues extra objectively. Being gay is a compulsion which would be triumph over, like somebody can supply up smoking, ingesting, or being a drug addict. Homosexuality IS an habit, however the type it extremely is that a brilliant form of the addicts see not something incorrect with it. as long as they are able to tell themselves - and one yet another - that they have been "born that way", it we could them off the hook! in the event that they are able to apply this as a potential of justification and convince others that it is not a call, then they don't would desire to take accountability for their movements; it then turns into something it extremely is "previous their administration". something like the old "devil made me do it!" protection!

People who are gay know better! Some people just want to believe that others are different by choice because this threatens who they are and no amount of scientific evidence will ever convince them otherwise. They have the "OMG I could have been gay if that one strand of DNA split!" problem. Give me a break.

Straight people wouldn't understand, so they simply say that being gay is a choice. Only the smart ones know that it isn't by choice. And the smart ones are usually gay.

because they have made the choice not to be gay. besides, your question contains false information. There are over 12,000 organized exgays in the USA who have made the choice to be gay and then made the choice to no longer be gay. Why should we believe the anecdotal evidence of gay people claiming they were "" born that way" There is Still no Scientific Proof that anybody was " born with" any sexual orientation.

They're taught, from birth, to believe everything they're spoon-fed at church. To question such beliefs is to question one's faith, or so they're taught, so they ignore any evidence that does not support their belief system. Like dinosaur bones and the mountain of evidence in support of evolution. Instead, it's their beliefs that tend to evolve, even as they pretend that the way things are now is the way things have always been.

One nit: There are people who were gay and then (according to them) decided to be heterosexual.
Personally, I don't believe it. Either they are surpressing their own physiochemistry or were bi-sexual to begin with.
However, generally, I think you're right - those who believe it is a choice have no science to defend their opinion, just gut feeling. Personally, I believe that the gut feeling is based mostly on homophobia.

Please do not group us all together. I am straight, and I know it is not a choice. If it were, I'd be a lesbian. So we straight folks are not all the same. In fact I would like a pastel rainbow to show my support for the full color rainbows.
Peace

You make a valid point. I'm straight and I have no idea.
I know that I'm not gay. I am not attracted to women.

I am straight. I also think that being gay can be a choice or something that people are born into. I'm not gay though and it is really up to the individual to decide how they became they way they are.
