Kind of depends on the circumstances. If we forced entry into a home we normally made an attempt to secure it. Sometimes it might be crude, or we at least contacted a friend or relative to come and help secure the residence.
I do know that when you fortify a home to thwart entry by police, you have assumed a certain amount of risk. If your home gets jacked up, sorry...
It is kind of obvious when the house is worth 35,000 and it has 50,000 worth of security system, frames around the doors and windows, etc. what they are doing with this home. Especially when we find 20,000 in the icebox and 5 guns with the serial numbers filed off of them!

If it's the wrong house, you can file a claim or get your insurance company to file a claim. In the meantime, you replace the door because it will take months to get the claim settled.
However, if they have a warrant and you have been bad, they are not required to pay for anything. That is one of your legal expenses.
An absent homeowner had his door broken in because police believed someone was dialing 911 for help. They found it was the family dog who was slowly strangling to death in the tangled up phone cord. The police rescued the dog, unplugged the phone and put it where it couldn't do any more harm, then left a note for the homeowner. As far as I know, the homeowner replaced the door at his own expense and never even thought to file a claim.

No, only if they bust down the WRONG door as in, somehow get the wrong house, then it becomes mandatory that they replace it. I suppose it'd be like making firefighters pay for the damage water does to objects, while they're trying to put out a fire.. Swat team people are at the house for a greater reason then to vandalize somebodies property.

Generally speaking no. However, each department within a city, town, county whatever, does have an account used to replace certain damaged items. Though there is a lot of red tape involved, and if a door is broken down and there are legitimate charges filed then most likley nothing will be paid out.

If SWAT is called, chances are, the possibility of wrongful arrest is pretty much out of the question and you won't see your door for a long time. More than likely, the real estate agency will pay for it's repair when selling your house.

They don't.. you do. Nice, huh? The lesson here is never give the swat team a reason to bust down your door.

they only have to fix the door if they busted down the wrong door. if they had a search warrant for your house and it is legit you are responsible for the damages.
keep in mind that if they did bust in your door by mistake you still have to go through alot of red tape to be reimbursed for the damages.
