To what degree are we talking about???
...if you mean to seriously damage something which would GREATLY inconvenience my life (i.e., blow up my house, destroy my car, smash my computers) ... versus some fairly "minor" emotional issue - (i.e., a fight with a g/f ... a disagreement with a family member) ... I'll take the emotional damage.
(Not sure about a MAJOR emotional issue - like the death of my entire family... being betrayed by ALL my friends... etc., etc.)
I've had my heart broken enough times to know I'll get over a minor set-back... but if you destroy my car / house - that can send me into a financial spiral which will wreck a lot of my life (and inconvenience everyone around me).
