my pc will come on only when i plug it in .the on button wont work,it stays on for about 5 seconds then kicks off. i switched power cords and it still does the same thing,i also cleaned the dust out

You need to check the manual of your machine. You may also check out the website of the manufacturer of you machine to know if that is a feature of your pc.

If you were not able to get information, try to call the tech support of you machine and inquire about your concern.

Likeliest possibility is insufficient power / too-great of a load.

For the power button, that would (easiest fix) be a disconnected wire somewhere, (hardest fix) or, a software setting that has been FUBAR'ed.

When you dusted the case, depending on *how* you did it, you may have jiggled something that shouldn't be jiggled.

Final possibility *I* can think of is it is unusually hot where you are, and your computer is shutting down due to extreme heat load. It's a safety feature that most people will rarely (if ever) encounter designed to prevent to CPU from being fried outright.

first check the battery, try 2 go in to safe mode 2 C if the screen saver setting has been changed 2 shut down sooner. I only seen that type of switch on MAC's
