I am 5 wks late for my period..I'm not on anykind of birthcontrol and I frequently have unprotected sex with my live in boyfriend..and I have negative HPT results...here's the catch...I think I have a UTI b/c my pee is cloudy and smells funny...could a UTI effect a HPT???

I don't think so because a HPT is designed to detect the HCG hormone in your body. Are you sure your period isn't late cause your period isn't regular yet. Girls under 18 usually have months where they miss a period due to changes in their body.

no, the pregnancy test detects hormones that are produced during pregnancy. it isn't produced any other time except during pregnancy. just because it is negative doesn't mean you're not pregnant tho. some tests detect small levels of the hormone and some detect larger amounts of it. wait a week and keep testing. drink some cranberry juice to help with the UTI.
