Bless! I expect you'll have sweep on Tuesday if you haven't had your baby by then.
Cod liver oil doesn't work, but sex might!

Good luck

i was convinced i would go over but my son came a week early. if you dont go into labour on your due date its not a problem, only 7% of babies are born on their given due date.

you can go upto 2 weeks overdue (you think your uncomftable now!), once past your due date you will have to have alot more checks with the midwife to make sure baby is still ok in there

women are never left more than 2 weeks overdue because the placenta does not function so well after this time. if babys not out by then then you will be induced, there are a number of methods of induction i reckomend you surf net for info on them.

do not worry your baby will arrive when he/shes ready.

DO NOT start self medicating cod liver oil or any other stuff to induce labour.

good luck with everything

ahh hun, dont panic all is not lost. my advice is get some raspberry leaf tea and start taking that, have some sex as the semen has a natural way of inducing labour, go for a good walk and last but not least ask midwife to do a stretch and sweep.

Stretch and sweep
A traditional method of trying to nudge the body into labour when overdue. The doctor or midwife does an internal examination and attempts to stretch the cervix and sweep a finger around the membranes. Sometimes this is enough to get labour going if the cervix is ripe.

Baby will come when he/she is ready, relax and enjoy these last few calm days. xxxx

I tried cod liver oil-- it made me sick. I went for a little jog-- nothing. I even tried blue cohosh, and it did nothing. I know people who swear by these things, but I really believe, at this point, that you go when you're ready. Both my girls were big (9,9 and 11 on the dot), so you would think it would have worked, but didn't. As to your next appointment, it depends on the midwife, but I doubt they will induce you. Usually they will let you go one-two weeks after your due date unless there are complications.
On a personal note-- just try to be patient and do things to keep yourself happy (eat whatever you want--you are about to lose 7-15 pounds!). In a few months this time will seem like nothing. Sleep if you can, because soon you won't. Make sure everything for the baby is ready-- wash all the clothes in dreft, set up things you are going to need nearby when you get home. Good luck!

I do not recommend cod oil, I herd it causes a lot stomach issues. I went 2 weeks late, my midwifes wanted to wait as long as possible before they induced me. I was 41 1/2 weeks and the wanted me to wait till the full 42 and I just started crying and told them I couldn't wait any longer. So they induced me a little sooner. When you go for next apt they will do a sono to check the fluids of sac and the size of the baby. Remember it can be 2 lbs off either way. They had to have a c-section team on stand by because they said I was going to have a 10.2 lb baby and she ended up being 8.11. Good luck! Rest up! The end is near!!!

Hi, I cant believe your due on saturday.... I am too!!! And i totally feel like u do im so fed up i just want labour to start, lol.
This is my 3rd baby, and ive usually always gone over my due date, my 1st was 10 days late and my 2nd was 7 days late, im hoping this one comes on time.
If you dont go into labour by tuesday i dont think your midwife will induce you then, they usually give you 2 weeks over. However they may offer you a membrane sweep to try and start labour off, but you dont have to have this, ive been offered one for next saturday but ive refused it. Dont worry to much, not many babies come on their due date, but im sure he/she will come when its ready. I know its frustracting but try and keep yourself busy to take your mind off it.
Im unsure about taking cod liver oil tablets, ive never tried it. There is a lot of things that people says you can do to try and start labour off, such as, walking, sex, pineapples, etc. But to be honest im not sure how effective they are. Just relax and let nature take its course.
If you wanna chat then get in touch..... I wonder if will will have our babies on our due date.
Anyway, good luck.

At our hospital they will let you go 2 weeks over. I tried cod liver oil, castor oil, pineapple, curry - even sex (hubby was NOT keen) and nothing worked!!!!!
At your next hospital appt they will probably give you a date to be induced (assuming you've not had baby by then)
I feel so sorry for you, these last weeks are the hardest in my opinion because you have come so far and are so close, they just seem to drag...
I suggest you get your feet up while you can!!
Good luck

Its not cod liver oil, its castor oil. This will give you really bad runs, but still might not work. Try a hot curry, its safer and that can sometimes start labour. Good luck, my son was due on Oct 5th but didn't arrive until the 19th so I hope you dont have to wait that long!

I was induced at 42 weeks! They say sex is the best to get it going as it will help rupture the cervix. If you are to be induced what happened to me was they put a pessary up there and told me it would start off labour in 2 days but it was more like 2 hours! Good luck x

Most of the time you aren't induced until you're at 42 weeks.

Because your due date can be off by 2 weeks in either direction.

But that really all depends unpon your midwife and how she works. Best of luck to you!

Sex is the best thing to bring on labour (not that you'll feel like it),there's a hormone in semen which affects the cervix,so give it a go.
It depends on how the midwifes in your area deal with overdue ladies, sometimes a cervical sweep may be performed which could bring on labour. Or you will be induced, either with a vaginal pessary or intravenous drugs.
Discuss this with your midwife & obstetrician.Good luck.
