Stay vigilant, it could happen in view of this administration's position and record on the power/ authority of the executive branch. They operate with no regard to the rule of law, and it would not be out of the realm of possibilities. I will be watching very closely over the next 8~ 10 months as we get closer to the election. One bright spot though is that the military and the administration are apparently having some kind of a rift, stemming from Rumsfeld and his tenure as Sec. of Defense, so I believe the military under Sec. Gates might object to any plan for martial law. We will see, and I will be watching and listening.

OK, this is a routine training deployment, it even says so in your links that you provided to test response on Air attacks, 9-11 and Katrina response changed everything, and we are now trying to fix those problems with advance deployments, in Katrina's case and with a new defense system in 9-11 case, to potential threats and training on new weapon systems.
