Citizens polled think GW Bush is a bad president and well over 70% of the population polled believe Congress is not doing its job and they are unhappy with the job that's being done. Why do we demand jail time and pennance from a football player but we accept the bad actions of our leaders? What's wrong with this picture?

I hear you. The media has made far more of an example of Vick than of most, including Paris Hilton or Anna Nicole Smith. Frankly, I'm tired of the whole mess. One can't help but wonder if the media puts these "bad celebrities" forward to deflect attention from what's going on in the government.

addendum: I am NOT saying that what Vick did was right. It certainly was not. I am saying that there are times when the media does overemphasize some news stories and minimize others.

It is 2 completely different subjects. Don't go by polls. You can ask the "same" people the same question, just worded different, and get completely different answers. Yes the President could have handled Iraq better. The whole of congress should be impeached, including Hillary. Now as for Mike Vick. He broke the law. He plead guilty. He will serve his sentence and punishment for his crime. Should he play again in the NFL? YES, why not? I wouldn't give him a job at a dog kennel, but he still has the right to make a living in his trade. If he continues to make wrong decisions. Then stop hiring him in the league. he won't have the money to do the things that get him in trouble. It is "HIS" decision on who, what, where and the whys of his life. He just happens to be a celebrity, that is why the exposure. Good luck to him

His crime had nothing to do with football. He should pay for his crime and if he is stll in shape to be a football player he should be allowed to play. The peopel who dont like him will just avoid the game. Now the rest of your question is called double standards. A lot of people need to be held accountable for their actions. Especially the leaders of this country who have our children dying overseas!

Michael Vick plead guilty to a felony.

Congress and the President haven't been charged with a crime to plead to there is a difference.

Uhhhh.....Oh, I don't know....maybe because Vick tortured and murdered dogs?! Neither congress, for the most part, nor our President has broken the law. What's wrong with YOUR picture?

yeah, i'm with ya. i don't think vick's behavior should equate to his not playing football ever again. i do think bush's behavior should equate to his not being president. we are country very screwed up in our priorities.
