take the pretest first. that will help identify strengths and weaknesses. get books that are specifically for taking these tests. your local public library probably has them, if you don't want to buy them. see if adult education has a course you can take over the summer. take the math part separate from the language part so you can really concentrate on that part of the test. silvan is good, but you can probably do it all on your own. most importantly, don't freak out over it! it's just a test, an important one, I grant you, but the world won't end if you don't score as high as possible. being too nervous can make you blank out and forget everything you've studied so hard to learn. good luck!

There should be ACT/SAT preparatory courses offered through your high school or through the testing agency. Check your h.s. advising office or ask an adviser for suggestions/what people normally do.

collegeboard.com has a section on SAT preparation as does actstudent.org, which seems to be the ACT testing agency.

If you feel you are going to suffer in a specific area, possible tutoring/classes in that area will benefit you. There are many best-selling books focusing on preparation for these tests, and checking these out at your h.s./local library can help as well.

When I first took the SAT, my score was low in the mid 1700s but then I got the sat guide from TutorFox: http://www.tutorfox.com/satguide.html and my score went up to 2190 (800 math, 760 writing, 630 reading). I highly recommend this guide for anyone wishing to get a higher SAT score.
