Sawdust and glue is better since the flour may tend to disintegrate or crack.

You can but it is not a good long lasting product. The flour will be consumed over time by microorganisms and the adhesive effect of flour will be lost. Original wood glues, made from milk solids had the same problem.

You can mix the sawdust and a wood glue to make the putty and use it up. If the dust is from the same wood, colors match fairly well BUT stains will not color the sawdust / glue parts because the glue will seal it off.

I don't think that will work...but why would you want to make wood putty when you can buy a product called Plastic Wood for around 3or4 dollars a can
