my angel fish are breeding, what should i do?????

can anybody out there please help me, i have just descovered my angel fish are trying to breed, and i havent got a clue what i should do. they are in a mixed tank which at the moment needs a complete water change and clean. i need to know if i should clean it now, do i have to seperate them, how long the mating process takes, how will i know when they finished, what i should do when they have finished and what the eggs actually look like.
i am grateful for any information anyone could give me, no matter how little.

First of all NEVER do a 100% waterchange on an established tank
you're suppose to do only 25% weekly partial waterchanges with a gravel siphon, that's it

If your tank is heavily plantet you can leave them in there

If not, provide them with a piece of PVC pipe, where they can lay their eggs on, and set up a breeding tank

Let them breed. Some Angels are wonderful parents and it's fascinating to watch them breed and raise their young. I don't know what size aquarium you have and what the other fish are so it's hard to give advice. If the tank is less than 3' long I would remove the other larger fish including any Angel fish that are not the breeding pair. If you have some small tetras or danios in the aquarium I would leave them because they will usually stay away from breeding Angels and are fast enough to get out of the way. If you have a plecostomous get it out of the tank immediately. If the tank is dirty I would do a water change from the other side of the aquarium though only change 10-20% of the water though do every few days on the side farthest from where the Angels are breeding. I wouldn't mess with their area for awhile. Go buy some frozen Baby Brine Shrimp or Cyclop Eeze for when the eggs hatch. Sometimes Angels take a few tries to learn how to breed and raise the babies though don't get discouraged they'll eventually get it right. Enjoy

if they are in a community tank, then breeding will be a bad idea.

Angelfish are protective parents so they will attack the other fish in the tank making thier lives hard.

The best thing to do is seperate the pair from the other fish and add them to a 20 high and allow them to breed in there.

Or you can keep them in the same tank but highly recommended that you get a tank divider to seperate the angels from others.

You can tell they are done breeding, as the the eggs are very visible, and the parents will be faning the eggs which is passing oxygen to the eggs.

You have a few option here.

You could remove the eggs and put them in another tank, divide the eggs from parents or leave them in.

Angel fish can be good parents and protect the eggs but they might also eat them if they still young and inexperienced.

If they start looking after the eggs / fry then you should make sure they are not harming your other fish
