I'm interested. How exactly does it work? What do I need to set it up and how much would it all come out to including the purchas price and any monthly bills? Thank you to all those who respond.

Think of an apple Tv as a big ipod you connect next to your TV.
No monthly fees, but sunchronizing photos and music is a major pain (and slow). Plus, the local drive is not that big.

For about the same, I would buy an Xbox and use it as a media extender (you need a Media OS though) and you can use it to control your PC and access remote content.
For even less, I would get a Digital media receiver from Linksys or netgear.
