GET IT NOW. The dea is to get it for her BEFORE she becomes sexually active. Getting the shot does not mean she will then become sexually active... Nobody thinks of it as a liscense to have sex. It is an amazing innovation that can protect her froma virus that is in epidemic preportions and claerly directly causes cervical cancer. I have been absolutely mystified and saddened and frankly horrified by some of the narrow mined ignorant people who believe they are protecting thier daughter by not getting them the shot. Even if your daughter is a virgin until marriage that certainly does not mean her husband will be ( I think that is pretty safe to say ) and if she ever wants children at some point she WILL have unprotected sex with her husband and at this point shwee too could contract HPV and then end up with cancer.... Who wouldn't want to protect thier daughter from that? You need to get it before she becoes sexually active... That is what it wass designed for.
Also think of this 1 in 4 women are sexually assaulted in some way by the age of 25 Godforbid this should happen to your daughter ( and I sincerely pray it does not ) wouldn't you want to protect her from yet another bad outcome of that situation... I mean if there were a vaccine against AIDS wouldn't you get it for her? Of course you would.. because even though I am sure you daughter will never engage in "risky" behavior the future is not always something one can control, exposure sadly can happen even against one's will...

Get it!! It's wonderful that women have this option now. Aside from redness at the injection site, headache, and some nausea when the shot is given, there are no huge side effects other than protecting yourself from genital warts and cervical cancer.
I got it, no problems, and my baby sister (15) also got it and the peace of mind I feel is overwhelming. I am married, but I did it so that she wouldn't feel so alone and knowing that this may be the thing that saves her from cervical cancer is a huge sigh of relief.
Remember--it doesn't fully protect all women from cervical cancer so it's important to maintain routine yearly pap tests.
It is given over a six month period.
HPV can be transmitted even WITH a condom. It's the easiest virus to pass and the hardest to detect.
Anything to give women the smallest bit of choice back is a huge gift. Give her the vaccination, tell her you are doing it because you love her and you want her to be safe and healthy, and keep praying more vaccinations like this become available to us.
Good Luck!

Bottom line is that this is a medical breakthrough and could prevent her from getting a cancer that can wipe out her chances of childbearing. My sister who is 23 has been participating in the study for 3 yrs and with all the information that she was given, BEFORE it was approved, she thinks its great and could help so many people.
Many people dont realize that guys are only a carrier of HPV since it thrives on estrogen and they have so little of it in their system. I think people think others will assume that if you have your daughter get it at 13 you are allowing her to be sexually active because its a new and kinda taboo vaccine. Personally, I think its responsible parenting to think ahead and plan for the future. I wasnt sexually active until I was 21 but I know that is not the norm! I have a 14 month old daughter and I would give it to her if she was your daughters age.

I would get her the shot as soon as possible, I on the other hand have a 13 year old son. But personally, by having that protection, it could prevent her later in life from having cervical cancer. I just wish there was one for women in their 30's instead of the cut off being 26. I haven't heard anything bad about the shot, my friends that have daughters have had their 13 year old girls get it when they turned 13. Hope this helped you out

I had my daughter get the HPV vaccine. She got it along with the Meningococcal vaccine. Only afterwards we learned that there is a risk of serious complications when these specific two vaccines are given together. If you do choose to get the HPV, then insist that the two be given on different days, (HPV will be given in three doses, Menin. only once). That way you will not run into problems.

With any drugs/vaccine there's a danger of area effects. regardless of the vaccine it doesnt safeguard against all varieties of cervical maximum cancers. the final prevention is abstinence in the two girls and boys. You ask what fee, think of of it this way in case you tell a new child they could get a shot for an STD it relatively is telling them i understand you will possibly have intercourse. This encourages intercourse. in the adventure that your daughter comprises you and askes approximately intercourse then talk it together with her. it is going to be some thing a new child has a say approximately. no longer compelled. Who advantages if she has no area effects from the shot then she is shielded from some varieties of cervical maximum cancers it relatively is super. in particular the drug organisation advantages from the fee of the shot. i think of that fogeys actual could think of roughly it and according to hazard deciede with their toddlers vs forcing it. i think my feeling is that this... Its a clean immunizaiton each time one comes out and that they push for each man or woman to get the shot then later down the line some area consequence pops up that motives existence long problems. who's to declare the shot wont reason infertility till now in existence or some thing worse. Or will make greater resistant traces of HPV which will reason maximum cancers no remember what. that's one communicate that may not end for an prolonged time with everybody having a diverse view. i in my view won't get the shot for myself via area effects of drugs that have been deemed risk-free by way of FDA and then later pulled off the industry via terrible area effects, by way of the time that this is been out for some years i will't be between their rules for age. That will improve a question in it self Why arent women older than 26 waiting to get the shot? what's their reason at the back of no longer permitting it?

Yeah, my mom was convinced we weren't getting any as kids too. How wrong she was... Get the vaccination ASAP. I've been dealing with the results of HPV and abnormal paps for longer than I care to recall. The result of a teenage fling. By getting the vaccine you're not condoning sexual activity, you're simply protecting her future. It also gives you a great opportunity to open talks about sex.

Why wouldn't you give her a shot that could prevent her from getting cancer?
If she's not sexually active, now is the best time to do it.
My daughter is almost 12 and she's had the first of three shots.
It is a three shot series by the way.

The vaccine is so new, there is no way of knowing the long-term effects of it, nor how long it lasts. It also contains questionable ingredients, such as aluminum hydroxyphosphate sulfate and polysorbate 80. Even though it contains known carcinogens, they still do not test it for carcinogenic or teratogenic properties, or effects on fertility.

I've gotten it. While you're going to get a lot of answers about long term effects and that is a valid consideration, I have to wonder if the long term effects of lots of drugs we take every day and vaccines we use weren't under the same scrutiny at some point. It's got a good shot at preventing cancer. Why not?
Edited for MISTY: Yes, it only protects from 4, but only these 4 have been specifically linked to cervical cancer.
