Well, unfornatitly I went through something similar to what your talking about.
My husband and I had been going to a fertility Dr of 3 yrs and finially got PG, then a interen did a pap smear like your talking about on the same day that I found out that I was PG and that evening I started cramping and bleeding went to the Dr the next morning to find out I was miscaring. I blamed the interen dr and everyone else I could for months and then after 6mts of waiting we got the go head to try again and after a surgrey to bloost my ovaries to produce more eggs we became PG again and now I have it in my charts and records that they ONLY do a cotton swab pap smear, and I have 3 beautiful children now. Ask your doctor to do the same thing for you (put it in your charts that you get cotton paps only) he or she will be helpful, and if you feel uncomfortable with your Dr that did the pap, then I would tell you call around and change to a different Dr. Good luck and dont give up God will see you through this.
PS you can go to my prfile and message me if you to talk anymore.

Having a pap smears sometimes do pinch but, should not hurt ! It sound like the Dr did not do it right. The only thing the doc should of done was to use a long like Q-tip swabs to scrape the walls. That don't hurt, & ofcourse the Speculum. I'd go to another dr & have them take a look at you. There is one more thing you might want to look at .You could be allergy to latex gloves, my daughter is & when she found out it was the latex gloves they stoped using them, she also had red with bumps & sore near the area.

Well...to take a simple approach to this problem...no...I wouldn't say that this is normal. A normal pap smear is a little bit of uncomfortable and hugely embarassing. I know that the last thing you want to do is go back, but I think you should try and find another doctor and have a check up just to make sure that everything is ok. And to ask why they are giving you pap smears 2 days after a m/c. Doesn't sound right to me. Good luck ...with everything.

You really shouldn't be in pain after a pap smear they can be uncomfortable but not really painful. Sounds like she could of been a bit rough with you and you could of received a friction burn when she inserted the speculum. As far as little bumps that sound off. You may have a latex allergy. This could be when your tissue came in contact with the exam gloves. I think if it is really painful I would go back to a Dr. and have it looked at. Is there any possibilities of having an STD? I would really want to get rechecked if you have a sore it could easily become infected if not treated promptly and correctly. Stay clean, no sex, or tampon use and visit another Gynecologist is my advice.

Was the pap smear done before or after the misscarriage? I have never had a pap smear DURING a pregnancy. Too much risk of infection. If it was done days after your miscarriage then your cervix was probably inflamed and that would cause pain when it is swabbed.
Sounds like the doctor was too rough and that you may also be having an allergic reaction. If it is a latex allergy your medical files must ALWAYS be flagged.
Please go see another doctor right away.

Girl, it seems like they hurt you! it shouldn't feel like that or be like that at all. I have had like 3 pap smears already and NEVER felt that way. I never felt like they cut me, it feels a little uncomfortable when they insert the tool and open you down there and when they do their stuff in there...but I never felt like my doctor cut me. It's a female by the way, so you might want to get a female doctor to do these for you. Take care and I'm sorry about the m/c's. Good luck with the next one :)

I think you should find another doctor and have that one take a look. It doesn't sound right...I've gotten 4 paps - 2 different docs & 2 different midwives - and they hurt a bit but nothing like what you described. You should probably get checked out, and if you find she's been something wrong, you should probably get a lawyer and make sure she doesn't hurt more women like that. Some women can be really traumatized from someone inflicting real pain in that particular area.

I have heard of pain and irritation from a pap before, and a lot of this comes from the way the speculum is inserted. My last pap was done by a medical student with my doctor watching over her, and she explained that if not inserted a certain way it could cause pain like you are describing.

With bumps I'd have to guess an allergy too. It wouldn't be a bad idea to get a different doctors opinion.
I've had one PAP with baby #1 and that one caused a lot of bleeding. I didn't think much of it because it hurt like she'd scraped me with the speculum but she sent me for an immediate ultrsound because she thought it was something wrong. Never occured to her that she caused it, apparently her other patients have leather insides. I didn't go back.

Sounds like you should call the dr. Is there any sign of bleeding?
Try taking some tylenol. It does not sound like an allergy at all. Pap smears should be uncomfortable with slight pressure but never painful.
