You can all say the Yankees suck and say whatever you want. But think of this: How many franchises can say they are having a terrible year and STILL make the playoffs? Yankees haven't missed the playoffs since the strike year when there were no playoffs. Can any other team make the claim?

I guess this would be more of a rhetorical question but I think it's funny how everyone says the Yankees are terrible and they will still make the playoffs.

The only reason the Yankees struggled so much in the beginning of the season was due to pitching injuries. ANY team could have had such issues. Look at the Blue Jays I think they set a record for starters on a DL at the same time. True we have higher standards as Yankee fans, but all they need to do is get into the playoffs and anything can happen from there.

And if we can't live in the past nobody should.... meaning nobody has won anything THIS year yet. It's actually surprising that most of the bashing isn't coming from Red Sux fans this year. More so from the Tiger fans. I'm not really sure why either the season series was split with them.

To BMWDriver: everyone buys a championship no athletes are playing for free end of that discussion. The Yankees have a lot of money invested in HOMEGROWN players I can argue they have more invested in homegrown players than any other team. And I don't want to see the NFL rules employed here because half the league would end up in jail. And that would ruin baseball as well. The Yankees and Red Sux rivalry is good for baseball it's not ruining anything. What's ruining baseball is owners of teams not spending money on players they need. Tampa spends on position players instead of pitchers. Do I really need to point out Kansas City and Pittsburgh, two teams with a lot of tradition and history?

To the guy with all the numbers in the username. That was might point: how can people say the Yankees are having a terrible year when they will still make the playoffs and win probably over 90 games. I know very well about the Cardinals and Mets from the past. Heck the Cardinals are doing it this year too. Just keep in mind how few of these examples there are.

No not all Yankees fans suck. Most are incredibly rude.
For instance I went to Yankee Sadium for the first time, on Tuesday to root on my Sox and I got told over and over to go home and that Boston sux. It amazed me because all I said was excuse me and I got treated like crap.
Some Yankee fan aren't true fans. They jump on the banwagon and do it because the Yankees have such a past. Not all fans need to know every stat but some don't know anything except where to buy a hat.

Yes the Yankees had a tough start and seem to be improving but they have a much harder end of the season sceduale than the Sox. The Sox still have 6 game between you in the standings and are still the best in baseball.

The Sox have had there fair share of hard times especially against the Yankees over the years. They do better at home. They have a solid team most of the time, and many subs that are just as good as the starter.

The Yanks really do have a chance at not making the playoffs this yr. Wouldn't that be something? There is a first time for everything.

It goes with the territory.. When a team is very good over an extended period of time, they become hated by those on the outside, looking in.. and the Yankees do not have a monopoly on the hating.. In Basketball, it was the Celtics for decades as the most loved and most hated team.. In Hockey, it was the Canadians, and still is to some degree.. but now, living in Detroit, the Red Wings have become known as the Yankees of the NHL.. That's both a compliment and a derogatory title.. The Red Wings, on the way to 3 Stanley Cups, haven't missed the playoffs in more than a decade.. And then there is the original "America's Team' in the NFL.. You either loved the Cowboys, or thought of them as the evil empire.. Even Countries that are very successful, become the most 'hated' 'team' from the Romans 2-thousand years ago, to the British 300 years ago to the U.S. today.. SO Yankee fans, I would only say this, take pride you are the most hated baseball team outside of New York city, as well as the most loved.. you have this duel title for a reason

Yes the Yankees had major injuries this year but they were early so they have recovered since the all star break.

Red Sox had injuries the last part of last season.

People said "Oh suck it up Sox fans"

True sox fans know the deal not those johnny fan latelys who joined Red Sox Nation when they were champs and aren't used to Sox Ups and downs

Remember who ended up in the world series last year and the Yankees basically had the same team . It wasn't the yankees it was Detroit Tigers and St. Louis Cardinals.

Here is a part of History for a reminder.

1975 The Red Sox played the Reds for 7 games and lost

1976 The Yankees played the same Reds team and LOST in 4

Which American league team in 2 years was better ? SOX

But you have to understand that there are high expectations for the Yankees. With those players and that money, they should be winning. By Yankee standards, they are having a bad year. For another team with that record, they would be having a good year.

You have to take into account the team and the players' talent. The Yankees have so much money, that they have the best talent, so their expectations bar is way higher than any other team.

And yeah, it bugs me how Yankee fans always go back to the past when they see that they are in trouble. You're not always gonna be the best team, and that's ok. You guys just haven't realized that yet.

Uh- with that payroll, how can they not make the playoffs? When you can buy any player you want in the entire league, you should be in the playoffs every year, and probably the Series too for that matter. That is why baseball fans outside of NY and Boston and starting to care less and less abotu baseball. NY and Boston buy championships, while the rest of us watch sub-par ball. Baseball will continue to decline in popularity until they take a look at the NFL and bring parity back to the game. How about that, smart guy?

Sunydaze: Yankees fans don't live in the past, they just bring up the truth about how there team has more championships & haven't missed the play-offs since 1995 & the fans still say they suck. Red Sox granted they won World Series in 2004, 3 years ago & their fans are gloating about that too so Red Sox fans only have one great moment to remember, 2004 & the Yankees have many more. You can hate the Yankees all want, but for fans to say they suck, need to face reality, they don't & their consistant winning over the years proves it.

Between Jason Giambi and Johnny Damon, they have a higher payroll than the whole tampa bay roster. how can you say that the yankees don't buy their way to winning when teams like minnesota have more homegrown players than any other team, and are in contention almost every year for the past 5 or 6 seasons. my own boston red sox tried to do so in the offseason with drew and lugo, and look where it landed us.. with 2 guys hitting below 260. and an extra 25-30 mil on the payroll every year. trust me, come playoffs when you have 2 starters in their 40's 2 others that are rooks, and i guy named wang..you'll find yourself watching another team besides your precious yanks in the alcs.

Quote me on this, I have never said that the Yankees would not make the playoffs this year.Do I hope that they don't, well yeah.I don't come on Y/A to hurt other ppl's feelings, I try my hardest to be respectful to everybody and the team they root for.I'm on here because I am a baseball fan, a fan of the Boston Red Sox.I'm hoping that 2007 is a repeat of 2004.But I'm not cocky nor am I naive. We have a long month ahead of us.I just wish that people who choose to bash one another and are mean to each other remember that it is baseball.Be respectful, if you don't like a question, don't answer it.

Why do the yankee fans continually live in the past? This is what I want to know. It's not what happened previous seasons that counts, it's what's happening in the here and now. And by what I understand to be Yankees standards, they ARE terrible since they haven't won a World Series since 2000.

You havent won anything yet, In fact you made all valid points but I ask you this, can any other team claim over a 100 million dollars from TV contracts besides the mets?? Hmm more money more championships?? Now you are getting it. Dont you see how the game works dude. You should be mad if you dont make the playoffs because that would be an embarrassment.
