Liberals want the government to raise taxes and take everyone's money then let the government decide how this money should be spent. Liberals believe the government makes better decisions than private charities. Liberals don't view the government spending the money as their money they view it as the government's money. Since they don't realize it's their money they feel good about giving it away because they think they're helping people. If the individual actually doesn't have money or a job then they are receiving this money for doing nothing, become dependent on the government and of course become liberal people then they are voting for people that give them money. I disagree with the comment that Conservatives claim that Liberals have no money or jobs. That's not possible since George W. Bush and the Republican party have led us to a far lower unemployment rate than during the Clinton administration. With over 40% of the country being liberal and less than 5% of the population unemployed that means at least 35% of the population are working liberals.
Conservatives believe the private sector does far better at taking care of people than the government does. They believe the individual has a right to donate or not donate to charities. They believe the individual has a right to pick and choose which charities they wish to donate to. Conservatives believe they shouldn't be forced to give money to organizations they are personally, professionally or religiously opposed to. Conservatives believe and evidence shows that the private sector is far more efficient than the public sector. This allows charitable donations to help far more people than government programs even if both organizations target aid to the same people.
The real question should be why don't liberals give money to charities? Massachusetts is one of the wealthiest states, is the highest Democrat/Liberal state and has the lowest percentage and actual dollars given to charity. When you look at a map of the country if it's a Republican state they give a large amount of money to charity and the poor through direct donations. If it's a Democrat state they don't give money to charities or the poor. Income has nothing to do with this. Poor states that are Republican give far more money to the poor than rich states that are Democrat.
If ignorance is bliss, you must be a happy person. I hope you actually take the time to research and learn something because the truth will set you free. It might make you a Republican as well though like most Liberals I fear you won't actually be able to ask questions and accept the answers beyond a simple sound bite. If you can you have a chance at knowledge and you'll be far better off for it in the long run.

So, let me understand.
You are to be forgiven since you don't make enough money to give to charity.
Okay, let's take that as a starting point. Why don't you have enough money?
Is it that you haven't figured out how to? In that case, why should we listen to people who haven't a clue how to succeed in the world about what to do to fix the world.
Is it that you are volunteering and can't make money since volunteering doesn't pay financially? The same statistics show that volunteering is also down amongst the Kerry states in comparison to others.
Is it that...
Well I'm sure you get the drift. I don't dismiss this entirely but I know of plenty of conservative families who don't make much money but still give whatever they can to charity, both from a time and financial basis. They do not look for the next handout.

Liberals do have money and lots of it, they are stingy when it comes to Charity, and they want to use other peoples money so they can keep their own. Census reports have shown that the Red States give more to Charity than Blue States. So that means you liberals are stingy sods and that is why liberals use the tax code to make everyone else pay for your projects and you don't have to fund it yourself. That is why big Liberals set up foundations to avoid Taxation and dole out so little like the Clintons, Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, and George Sauros.

My only problem is with people who want to take MY money and give it to people who didn't earn it.
Not having a job (and expecting others to pay one's way), or demanding that others give money to the less fortunate while not giving to charities one's self, are both charges leveled at some liberals.
Yes, it seems very inconsistent to charge someone with doing both at once. But each illustrates the attitude of "being compassionate' with OTHER PEOPLE'S MONEY to which I and others object.
I work. I pay taxes. I give to charity.
I am a conservative.

Your English grammar is imperfect. What conservative is claiming liberals don't have jobs or money? I never heard that from anyone. It looks like something you just made up.
When conservatives tell liberals to give their own money to charity, that is good advice. I don't want some left wing liberal loony taking tax money from me and giving it to someone just so he feels good.
There are more Democrat millionaires than there are Republican millionaires. There are more black millionaires than there are white millionaires. I bet that is some info you would not be able to squeeze out of the NAACP.
If I want to give to charity, it is strictly up to me.

Most of the liberals I know are financially comfortable. They have jobs and money and yes, they donate to charities. The few I know that aren't as financially well off, volunteer their services at schools, a senior center and other community projects.

No one is "complaining you don't give to charity". Everyone knows that welfare people can't give to charity cause they don't have the money. I think you're making this BS up.

It's adjusted for income?
What about time spent actually volunteering or working for the charity?

The EPA is not against coal mining . They are just against destroying every stream in the vicinity to do it . Just because coal companies want to do things their way does not mean everyone else is wrong . Would you destroy your home to get an ant out ?
