It is in the rumor mill from Washington, A blogger heard the following from his Washington insider friend:
"They [the source's institution] have "instructions" (yes, that was the word used) from the Office of the Vice-President to roll out a campaign for war with Iran in the week after Labor Day; it will be coordinated with the American Enterprise Institute, the Wall Street Journal, the Weekly Standard, Commentary, Fox, and the usual suspects. It will be heavy sustained assault on the airwaves, designed to knock public sentiment into a position from which a war can be maintained. Evidently they don't think they'll ever get majority support for this--they want something like 35-40 percent support, which in their book is "plenty.""

Again this is just a rumor. But it makes sense ... the Republicans are nothing unless they can fabricate fear and portray themselves as our protectors.

Probally just a rumor, as it has been for months and years now. I personally would like to see us strike at Iran. They are one of the biggest terroristic countries on the Earth today and need to be eliminated.

I believe an attack on Iran has been the plan from the beginning - that Iraq and Afghanistan were invaded merely to encircle Iran, and that the old Cold Warriors in the Bush administration, such as Cheney and Rumsfeld, have been spoiling to take out the Islamic government of Iran ever since the Shah was deposed. That would explain the lies told to justify invading Iraq, and the more general anti-Islamic rhetoric the administration has stealthily but persistently disseminated since 9/11. It also explains Bush's impervious attitude toward public opinion here at home, and why he has worked so hard to keep us from learning the basic facts of those White House emails. It is probably why Colin Powell left, and possibly why so many others are leaving the administration - they know the big one's coming.

OK , let's try quantatative thinking. . . rational thought .
We've known for quite some time that an attack on Iran was coming . So it's only logical that our government would launch a campaign informing us of whatever Iran is up to in order for the people to know and understand . It's done every single time there's military action brewing . It has absolutely nothing to do with 'fabricating' anything . Iran's activities are well-documented , but not everyone is aware of them .
You don't know what you don't know .

I certainly do not doubt that certain elements in this administration might try to put something like this past the American public, although if they want to get a majority of Americans behind a war with Iran they will have to provoke a Gulf of Tonkin like incident.. Somehow provoking an Iranian missle attack on a US ship in the Persian Gulf

As cynical and skeptical as I am of the current administration,
I still doubt it will actually happen because a few things are different now.
1. the battle for Iraq was between the DOD, Rumsfeld-led republican hawks who wanted to take over (the at the time soon-to-be-carved-up oil rights) and away from the contracts Hussein had granted to Russia, China and France, once the sanctions were due to be lifted. Crank out huge supplies of oil and break the back of OPEC's monopoly on pricing.
IT WAS ALL ABOUT CONTROL OF THE OIL FIELDS.............
unfortunately for the war hawk side of the republican army (what ever happened to Mr. Rumsfeld) the only world power that could defeat the american army stepped in ( American oil companies) and Dick Cheney squelched plans for american control of the oil fields because best-est buddies of OPEC AND AMERICAN OIL LIKE TIGHT SUPPLY AND HIGH DEMAND= HIGH PRICES AND PROFITS FOR BOTH!
Now while our saudi inluenced oil charade is not fond of Irans version of the truth either, the forces of the party in power wanting re-election will persuade big oil and saudi arabia that they should focus on re-election bids not start a third war when we are mired in Iraq and Afghanistan already.
Calmer minds will prevail in this one, they hate Iran , but the timing is bad to attack it..............
We can thank Saudi Arabia for the lower oil pricing now and expect it as a stimulus for the economy through the election process, they do it every time to help out their republican friends in their election bids............

They did that once, but Stupid George Bush can't spell IRAN. Spelled it with a Q for some reason. It screwed everything up cuz we invaded a country that didn't have anything to do with anything and now we're stuck there.
Let that be a lesson to the kids out there. Be smarter than George W Bush.

Yes, they also predict that there will be another "911" within the next couple of months along with the propaganda. The economy is taking a dip, and we still have some rights left that they want to eliminate.

Absolutely. I have always figured they would see just how bad the elections next year go, and if need be, THEN trot out bin Laden and say, "See? We got him we should be re-elected", but personally, no one in the Bush regime has ANY credibility anymore. Nothing coming from the White House can be believed anymore.

I got a better idea pull out of Iraq.
The next terrorist attack on the US based out of Iraq give a list of all those who supported the pull out and sue them.
When the whole sale killing of women and children that will go on if we pull out have it on the news and say with thanks for those who wanted us out of Iraq.
Showing the list of representatives and senators voting for us to get out of Iraq.
At that point after the 08 election it would be what is a democrate?
They will have the DNC meeting in a phone booth and be able to apply for endanger species status.
