Red Sox lover posted a question earlier but I wanted to add details, but couldn't. My last thought was to answer to the Red Sox fan who responded about how most Yankee fans haven't seen most of the 26 World Series titles, well I have seen the titles in 1977, 1978, 1996, 1998, 1999 & 2000, well that is 6 titles & how titles have you seen your Red Sox win in that same time period? One. Some Red Sox fans will say the above mentioned about most fans didn't see the 26 titles & some Yankees fans will say they have won the most titles. This will go on til the end of time. I will always cheer my Yankees & you Red Sox fans will cheer for your team. The rivalry will never die.

I totally respect your love of your team. I do not have a problem with people that love their teams. I guess I just get so annoyed with people talking trash all the time when I really just like to talk baseball and enjoy the friendly banter. I didnt put it very well in my babble..lol...

I've been around for 16 if the 26 Yankee World Championships starting in 1947. I guess that means I've also been around for 25 American League Pennants. Mickey Mantle was my hero growing up and my deep disapproval of the Red Sox really didn't take root until I observed Ted Williams and what a pompus jerk he really was.

As far as a rivalry is concerned, it's all in the minds of Red Sox fans. How can anyone really call it a rivalry when our Yankees regularly beat the hell out of the Red Sox? The Red Sox and their fans are just Yankee "wannabees".

Your right perhaps the rivalry wont dwindle over the years, and I am assuming that when you witnessed the championships in the 70's you were an adult. You would then also have to know how baseball was run in those days, a weak union and strong ownership with a commissioner in the pockets of the owners. The Free agent era after the collusion fiasco brought immediate success to franchises such as New York with all the televison money not to mention the the fact that George seemingly prints money in the basement of Yankee stadium, (that dump). While Boston might only have one championship since early in the last century, it was in fact after the Yankees made MLB history by serving up the biggest choke in the history of the game. In fact I will never root for the yankees but I know the game enough to know that the all the players are on the same team and the owners another, that is the real game of baseball. Just like all the fans of Boston and all the fans of NY. We will never get along and it will take years for the fans of boston to lose this inferior complex to NY. The fact that NY has contributed more to the rise of player salaries essentially makes them the whore of the game and the rest of the league needs to follow suit to compete and fill a stadium to generate revenue to run a legitimate business. The average fan has no idea how and just keeps buying merchandise and tickets all the while forgetting the strike years when baseball turned its back on the fans. good day to you sir. Please email me to discuss further if you want to, I am up for it now that I am our of the game.

I tell people all the time "they player you hate today may be on your team next year and be the teams hero.

I think Joe Torre is a good manager. Loved when he was a player.

One thing wrong with Red Sox management is they let good players leave.

Orlando Caberra was the Sox Shortstop during the 2004 World Series.

He wanted more money so the Sox let him go and brought in 3 shortstops since he wasn't resigned.

But I still love the Red Sox. I also respect Yankees fans their loyalty to your team as well

well said, it does not matter how many the yankees have, it is new york putting out a quality product for all of us to enjoy year after year. With out the red sox (evil) there would be less intrest in the yankees (good)and therfore worse teams lesser bball.

The world goes round.

The rivalry will never die, you said it urself, i think the teasin is just a joke to get other fans rattled, and what i think is funny in pregame warmups, the sox and yankee players chat like they are best friends, and the fans cant stand each other. and Mike Wrecka, we played the tigers this year and our pitching didnt give up 16 runs.plus as embarrasing as this is, it was only 86 years. ya i said it.

Does anyone wonder why the YANKEES/RED SOX are so hated across the country? Because MLB, ESPN, FOX all act as if baseball begins and ends with those two teams.

Now, personally I like BOSTON and hate NEW YORK, but that's my own preference. I just get sick and tired of hearing about BOSTON/NEW YORK when the RED SOX have a six game lead.

CLEVELAND/DETROIT is 4.5 games
LA/SEATTLE is 5 games
METS/PHILLIES/BRAVES is within 5 games
CHICAGO/MILWAUKEE/ST.LOUIS within 2 games
SAN DIEGO/ARIZONA/LA/COLORADO within 5.5 games

The worst division race is BOSTON/NY but that's the one they focus on. Then people wonder why most fans hate those teams.....

Being passionate about something is not a bad thing.I am very passionate about my love for the Red Sox.I cheer them on win or lose.I will be a fan of that team until I am 6 feet under. What I don't think is OK is when ppl bash someones character for the team they root for.You see alot of that on here, and its sad. Can't we just cheer on our respective teams and be somewhat respectful to one another.Yes the rivalry will never die, but hurting someones feelings or integrity is not OK.

The Yankees were undoubtedly the best team of the 20th century.

Yankees fans still won't lay down money on the 2007 team despite their unflagging confidence in inevitable victory.
