I know this question probably is rhetorical but she was a top contender for the gig. And before Drew Carey was named the new host CBS had nixed the idea of Rosie. I am just curious is it has to do with her recent "eratic" behavior ( some feel she isn't eratic so I put it in quotes ) or was there another official reason that i missed?

Rosie O'Donnell Says No to Price is Right

June 27, 2007

It was reported earlier that former The View co-host Rosie O’Donnell expressed her desire to become the next host of the long-running game show The Price is Right, saying in a video posted in her website that she had been pleading with the show “on a daily basis” and that she “still sends them emails everyday.”

However, after meeting with the producers of the show last week, O’Donnell has decided not to pursue the hosting job, mainly because it would require her to relocate, an issue that was also left unanswered in previous reports.

The 45-year-old television personality posted another video on her website on Sunday, June 24th. In the new video, O’Donnell said that even though she had a “nice lunch” with the show’s producers, she does not feel right about moving her family from their New York residence to Los Angeles, where the show is taped.

O’Donnell also entertained questions from her fans, one of which was regarding her reservations about relocating to Los Angeles.

"Here's the thing: I don't really need a job," O'Donnell answered. "I'm in a weird position. I don't need the money."

She added, "I know you're not allowed to talk about money in America. But I'm just saying I don't. So to get my entire family uprooted from their lives and move them across the country so that I can have a fantasy childhood indulgence job just doesn't seem fair."

When former The Price is Right host Bob Barker was backstage at this year’s Daytime Emmy Awards, he was open to the idea of the O’Donnell taking over the game show.

"She knows the show," he said. "There's no doubt in my mind she could do the show. Now, whether they want a lady host, I don't know. I've never heard that discussed. As far as I know, they've only auditioned men."

However, Barker later emphasized that what he said should not be equated to a personal endorsement of the former The View co-host.

Since leaving The View, O’Donnell has not had good things to say about her former co-hosts. During Cyndi Lauper’s gig at Columbia, Maryland on June 17th, O’Donnell, who appeared as a guest drummer, told the crowd about her experience on the all-female morning talk show.

"I got to tell you, I've been hanging around with those heteros for a full year and it's not fun," she said. "Turn around one minute and they'll stab you in the back with a high heel. They will."

I believe she posted in one of her video blogs that she had to turn it down because her and her wife and children live in one state and the taping would take her 1/2 way across the country. She did not want to be away from her family all that time while taping...she said it just didn't fit into their life right now.

I was never a big fan of the price is right, but now, with Carey, I'll be sure to catch it. Carey is a riot. Rosie has to much excess baggage, and is to unpredictable. I used to be a big fan of Rosie, but I think that she lets her mouth over run her a** hole.

because she is controversial and the Price is Right is all about screen time for products - it's really just an hour long commercial.

They had to get the least offensive person they could. I don't think she was ever really in the running.

I think Rosie's ginormous head would have looked too goofy next to the mini microphone they use on the Price is Right.

Rosie said that her not being on the show was her decision and that she didn't want to up root her family and move them to the West coast. Read more here:

She's good for the short haul, the ratings spike up but she tends to crash and burn so why would anyone with a game show that chugs along making money want to take a chance on her?

cause she said she wanted to change the show to her gay lifestyle. With men barker babes turn the contestants rw into a rainbow theme decoration etc.She just wanted to change it to GAY.She said in june when they had her on the list to be the new host.but of course she had to open her loud mouth and get eliminated. She has issues she really wants to force that gay agenda lifestyle on the entire world.Shes a bully .She not a nice person .Hell she'd be cool with me if she didn't bully everyone she meets.

They probably wanted someone a little less controversial to host. She has a lot of drama surrounding her.

Unpopularity and the fear she may start using the show as soapbox.
