What do you have in your car incase you break down ?
I often travel with children in the back seats aswell.
All I have is a spare blanket.
Can you type a quick list of things I should buy incase I ever need them, not to bothered about cost.
Thanks for any help, best answer will also get 10 points.

Jumper cables
Triangle
First Aid kit
Spare bulbs
Fire extinguisher
Soft drinks, e.g. fruit juice in small cartons, bottles of water, etc.
Snacks
Travel rug (acts as a blanket if weather is cold)
Foil blanket
Piece of old carpet (sits in boot of car and great if you have to get out and kneel/lie down to effect emergency repairs)
Air pump/compressor (spare tyre is sometimes a bit low on pressure when you need to use it)
Spider for those tight wheel nuts
Tyre pressure gauge
Cell phone and car charger
High visibilty vest

Some of these are mandatory if you go on the continent and are fairly sensible to have, even if you don't

Get a real jack, not the one that comes with the car. You can get something cheap at Advanced Auto but it makes changing a tire easier. Also jumper cables. You would be surprised how many people don't have them. Lastly make sure you have your cell phone with you so you can call someone if you run into a problem you can't handle.

A CELL Phone
Telephone numbers to call (your mechanic, towing service, road service and emergency numbers etc). Otherwise, have your car checked over every few months for tire and general maintenance problems.

One other thing that nobody's mentioned. A spare pair of spectacles if you need them for driving. Legal requirement I think in Germany.

first aid kit, wheel brace, jack and spare wheel, fire extinguisher (keep in door pocket and not in boot), atlas, can of water, can of oil, can of antifreeze, warning triangle, a good torch (wind up torch available from millets is best as you do not need batteries), a couple of blankets
