Yes the Yankees have beat the Sox twice in a row but, the last time I checked, they are 6 games back and are in 2nd place. It would seem that the first place Red Sox are still just that. The Yankees have closed the gap to 4 games and then back to 8. I would not be so cocky and sure about yourselves. Also, to all you Yankee fans that complain that us Red Sox fans keep reminding you that you will still be 5 games back even if there is a sweep, what about all the Yankee fans that remind us that the Yankees have won 26 rings? I had thought that I was having fun in Answers until I started reading all the bashing going on and now I don't answer so many questions because a lot of the good natured fun is missing. Oh well, my problem not yours.
I am so glad I found Sawxheads.com where I can be with more crazy people like me..lol.. Check it out Red Sox fans, you will love it!

The Yankees don't have a chance, even if they sweep, because they will still be 5.0 games back, and their is still another series in boston. The Red Sox have the pitching that can beat any team in baseball, and the yankees will not have a good pitcher on their team until next year, when they overpay Santana.
October is still a month away, and that means like ten more chances for the yankees to fall back to 14.5 games. If they can win enough in a row to catch the red sox, then the red sox would have the second worse defeat in sports history, only to the 2004 yankees giving up a 3-0 lead. I never get tired of bringing that up.

Well no offense but you have to be a fool not to expect bashing from fans of your teams biggest rival. ESPECIALLY when it comes to Yankees and Sox. There has NEVER been good hearted fun. The teams hate each other, the fans hate each other and that's what makes it the best rivalry in professional sports. 2nd only to Ohio State vs m*ch*g*n. I've seen the insanity up close n personal for both.
To respond to your 1st point. The last time I checked you had to be in 1st place at the END of the regular season which is still over 4 weeks away. So don't think Boston has locked up anything yet either.

The season is far from over but if the Red Sox win the division, they deserve it but division titles now means almost nothing to me, just look at the Atlanta Braves, winning what is it 12 or 13 in a row, but only one World Series titles. I would take more World Series titles over division titles anyday. I realize many people hate the Yankees but never count them out. As a Yankee fan I am not going to get cocky but Red Sox fans shouldn't get too cocky either & say the division is theirs because there is much more baseball to be played this season. Whoever wins the division gets bragging rights but not until the end of the season.

Here's the thing the Bo Sox don't have the pressure the Yanks do! The Yanks have to sweep no matter what if they have any hope anything less then a sweep will only gain them 1 game! And now that the Mariners are done with the Angels (who have both the Yanks and Mariners number!) They will have to keep pace with them. Right now the Yanks better worry about making the playoffs and not the division!

You are correct on about being in 1st place to win the division.
The last time I checked the past "9" AL East Division winners are as follows.
1998 - New York Yankees
1999 - New York Yankees
2000 - New York Yankees
2001 - New York Yankees
2002 - New York Yankees
2003 - New York Yankees
2004 - New York Yankees
2005 - New York Yankees
2006 - New York Yankees
2007 - Still to be determined. Let's not count or chickens before they hatch shall we.
The only ring Yankees fans care about is getting one this year.
Good day.

U know I'm one of those yankee fans that don't act that way. If your team clinches the division I will give the sox credit where it's due.

every year the red sox get the wild card and are absolutely estactic about it. this year they are lucky the yankees went through that slump early on and had so many injuries to their pitching staff. even with all that the yankees are making it a race, oh and by the way i sense fear in you sox fans.

they will never accept the fact that thier team is not going to finish in 1st. most of these yankee fans were not even born for half of the 26 ws titles.

But it was really nice to see Roger shut them down and the Yankees get the most hits Beckett has ever given up in a start.
Can't wait to send Schilling to the showers.
