Chad could be used as the nickname for Chadwick or Chadrick - but neither of those names are very cool. I think Chad is nice on it's own. :-)

None. It is the modern spelling for the medieval name Ceadda (pronounced Chad with a very soft 'uh' at the end. Many of the names other posters have come up with are surnames. You can use them if you want but most sound pretty pompous. Chad, on the other hand, is great!
If you look that name up on the internet, you will find many references.

I don't know if there is such a thing as "correct name abbreviations" but some are more common than others. I think Chad is a perfectly acceptable nickname for Chandler, logistically it has less syllables and could logically be derived from Chandler. It really comes down to the person and what they prefer, but Chad from Chandler makes perfect sense to me!

The main more popular answer is:
Chad or Chaddy is an abrevation of Chadwick (100% sure)
Less common (only known really if you live in the North West of England... Chad or Chaddy can be the shortened version of Chadderton.
